you need stop thinking so he had a scathing meeting for the review of the bunnies ( if we got someone i am sure they woulda been there for our end season debrief too

I'm not sure of that at all. The end of the contract period is November 1. I'd expect the coach to start his duties at the new club on that day. If permission was given to start earlier (with the last 2 months of the contract not being paid), that's fair. I just thought it was a bad look for Wayne to be organising Souths for next year while he was still our coach this year. This thing about being down there, holding meetings 3 days after our season ended and before our end of season awards night is just another indication of that bad look.

Like the ceo of phins had said he was free to do what ever he wanted after sessin was over like all other coaches leaving

If his contract became void after the last game. Not usually the case until fired with immediate effect.
 
I would say if dolphins didn't want him to go up there ge wouldn't simple as that stop over thinking

If he was still on the books at the Dolphins, I'd find it stunning if he went down there and held meetings.

Must have been cut loose immediately after the last game. Phone calls are one thing but conducting meetings at their HQ? I don't think so.
 
End the day if he was there board if phins would of oked it
 
Yeah, I'd say he was free to go after our season had ended.

I actually think it's a good thing for Woolf. The sooner he is in charge for next year's prep the better. Last thing he needs is Bennett lingering, everyone needs to know Woolf is the man now.

I think it must have been the case. And I agree it was a good thing. I think he did a good job. With a bit of luck with the injuries or lack of, we are set up for sustained success. But I still didn't like how Wayne was organising Souths for next year while he was still coaching us this year.
 

BENNETT STILL ON PHINS MONEY​

Wayne Bennett is still getting paid $20,000 a week by the Dolphins, despite starting work at the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The old supercoach is contracted and on the payroll until October 31 with the Dolphins. It didn’t stop him from spending a day with the Rabbitohs in Sydney, and addressing the players on his expectations for next season.

He also met separately with superstar fullback Latrell Mitchell. On Thursday we spoke to Dolphins chief executive Terry Reader about the situation. “C’mon Buzz, he’s not working at Souths,” Reader said. “He came to our presentation dinner on Thursday, and that’s where the big fella finishes.”

The Dolphins boss has been in denial since Bennett announced in May he was returning to the Rabbitohs. The team won just four of their last 14 games after Bennett signed and started communicating with Souths staff. He has been constantly in touch with the Souths players, caretaker coach Ben Hornby, and chief executive Blake Solly since May.

Souths ran a dismal 16th this season with just seven wins from 24 games. Bennett met with the Souths players 10 days ago to deliver a scathing assessment of their season.

You think he should be hanging around Souths HQ, conducting meetings and organising their roster for next year while still getting paid by the Dolphins? I don't think anyone questions that Wayne has got us in a good position to move onto bigger and better things in the near future. But my feeling is he shouldn't have been working for Souths until his commitments to the Dolphins are finished.

Financially speaking, the club is already a powerhouse. That's no guarantee when it comes to the team winning. But I think it will. Need Flegler back and Katoa firing for the whole season. Then I have no doubt the team will make the finals. Top 4 a distinct possibility.

Yeah, it was a no brainer for the NRL.

Being a financial powerhouse doesn't guarantee success, but it puts you in the best possible position to win and be one. The poverty of the NRL really don't stand a chance against the bigger clubs.

And whilst we would all like to think the comp is an even playing field, it just isnt, and the rich get richer, whilst the poor get poorer. I don't see the Tigers, Dragons or any of the poorer clubs winning much anytime soon.

Brisbane didn't miss a final series for such a long time, and it was because of its financial backing and advantage it had over other teams.

We will win and it won't be long.

I agree though poor clubs can still be competitive. The hopeless morons at Cronulla rely on the largesse of a US based billionaire who grew up a Sharks supporter. What happens when that billionaire loses 100 million, as they tend to do in a single bad trading day?
