So much for Wighton. He's joining Souths. I wonder if Souths are going to have salary cap trouble we can take advantage of.
Canberra aren't taking it lying down. Good on them. I wish them luck. Always seemed like a team that plays fair, don't cheat the cap, develop their own juniors and etc. Even though I've never been there myself, I think it's hard for Canberra to recruit from elsewhere because no one wants to live in Canberra.

I've had it with these media types saying things like, "Roosters can sign ********* with ***********'s money (someone veteran who left to retire or play another season ro two in the ELS)." Now it's Souths and Roosters. They are the only teams that don't have to upgrade younger players doing really well. It's obviously a scam. It's gotten so bad now with the Roosters and Rabbits that something has to give.

Well done Canberra. At this stage, they are like us. Can't cheat the salary cap. I guess it means Wayne really believes we have a serious 5/8 problem.

I am concerned about the Kerr signing. Being an ex dragon.

I want to see us sign another centre and marquee of some sort. Then we will be full legit next year

Remember Herbie has already been signed for next year. And Aitken is playing out of his skin.

Aitken is another player I am very familiar with. Do you not remember the try he bombed the week before?

I would prefer someone in there for Aitken

He kind of bombed it. Did it almost all on his own to get into that position to bomb it but even that isn't so simple. Jennings was quite far behind on the left. Aitken may not have even seen him. The player on the inside (Niko I think) probably seemed like the better option. It turned out to be wrong but I can understand what he was thinking.

The Raiders have challenged the NRL to force South Sydney to make Wighton’s value $1 million per season on their salary cap.

They’re not the only club blowing up about Wighton signing with the Bunnies, either.

Souths arch-rivals the Roosters have been going nuclear all over town about how South Sydney can possibly fit the ex-NSW and Australian centre into the red and green roster for 2024.

The Rabbitohs are adamant they’ve signed Wighton to play left centre. They’re also adamant they’ve got the latitude to do so in the salary cap with Liam Knight and Blake Taaffe off-contract and the salary cap increasing to $12.3 million next season.

This is a scam but still, the irony of the Roosters complaining about it.....

I trust Wayne knows what he is doing but from my perspective, I hope Souths get Wighton for 1 mil a year. Centres are a real problem for us but Aitken will do ok for one more year in the centres and Farnworth is one of the best centres in the competition. Better off saving the money and then offering Payne Haas 1.2 mil a year from 2025.
Rugby Yawnion are reportedly offering him 1.6 mil a year for 3 years. I think the most he could get in the NRL is a bit over 1mil a season. Probably 1.1mil. 500k is a lot of money to sacrifice for someone from a large family and whose mother is in jail indefinitely.

The stupid money they are throwing at Suaali might be end of Rugby Yawnion in Australia without grants or at least loan guarantees from places where rugby yawnion is popular.

Tass for Souths is definately worth trying to recruit! Don't understand at all why Souths would go with a 30 (31 when his contract starts) year-old Wighton to take his position on a big money deal.

Not a bad player. Not sure if he's better than Aitken and 100% not better than Farnworth.
