I think his best 17 days are over and I think Woolf is prepared to make the tough calls.

No one will say it but we're seeing it with how lean and trim Souths look and the noises about the lift in intensity at the Dolphins - Bennett's heart was always at Souths. It's admirable that Dolphins and Bennett left on good terms and remained very friendly during their time together. IMO Bennett respects the Dolphins and knows the value of a strong club presence in Queensland but his heart and love was elsewhere.

the bunnies fittness was a club thing , read it in the media every one of the 30 are on notice all season had nothing to do with wayne coming

like Wayne said to media few months into his dolphins coaching he goes where they want him to coach nothing more nothing les and he would still been at bunnies if what you said is truth

its all media bs no proof and no media person will put proof up if your so sure its happening come on put proof up

come on put evidence up

only the media that had t in for wayne are the ones that started it with no proof

more the fact bunnies through millions at bennet to be there to get a premership

I don't think it was on purpose but I think subconsciously Wayne was already coaching Souths toward the end of last year. No evidence and I might be wrong but it's the feeling I got.

He'll be prop or lock unless there are a few injuries to backrowers.

Wayne was 200% at Souths last year.

Dolphins and Wayne done remarkably well to leave on good terms, finish the year out and for Wayne to leave with the club in a stable position.

I did question the fitness of the team and seemed like way too many days off whereas my local team the Bulldogs were full on and took high fitness levels to new extremes.

Souths last year weren't fit either in fact looked very under prepared. Wayne has them in prime condition and all their players are totally ripped including Latrell Mitchell.

Every Dolphins player interviewed has said Woolf has stepped it up and there doesn't seem to be as many days off as previously. This you can tell by club and player socials.

IMO Wayne really respected the people at the Dolphins like Bob Jones, Tony Murphy, Terry Reader, etc, he respected the legacy of Arthur Beetson, he respected the traditions of the Dolphins and he knows the game needs to do better at grassroots in Queensland something the Dolphins can provide - so in all those aspects he respected the Dolphins and done well to help get them off the ground. I do think last year his eye was elsewhere and you only have to hear him talk about Mitchell, Walker, Crowe and Souths to know he loves them whereas Dolphins he merely respected. Just IMO. No one will ever admit to this off the record and whilst I was critical of the Dolphins last year hats off to them for seeing the longer picture over the shorter picture.

This is what Fini (can't spell his name yet) said in the interview on the Dolphins website that Kenny and Felise have transitioned to the middle and the edges will be fought out between himself, Lemuelu, Keeley and Tawha. I still don't write off Gilbert playing edge if Lemuelu or Keeley don't aim up because Plath is too valuable to leave out.

Dolphins really need at least two of Waqa, Walsh, Jackson, Naufahu, Symonds or Nonu plus Keeley making three to have an absolute breakout year like last year it was Fuller, Bostock and Plath.

Plath won't be left out. No way. But it's a game of 17 vs 17. IMO too much is made about who is starting and who isn't.

Plath and Gilbert will be locks with Plath reverting to hooker for 15~20 min. Not sure how they'll go about it regarding who starts on the bench.

He didn't give control to Woolf. He gave 'more control' to Woolf.

Dolphins’ point-scoring sensation’s vow for 2025
Published 4:00pm 13 January 2025

Jamayne Isaako has found scintillating form since arriving at the Dolphins for the 2023 season and plans to ‘keep doing his job’, continue to improve as a player, step up as a leader and give the club its first taste of finals footy.

Isaako’s comments came at the end of today’s tough preseason training session, on a soggy field in stifling humidity, as the squad prepares for a three-day training camp at the Sunshine Coast which starts on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old is expecting the camp to be just as gruelling as preseason training has been so far under new Head Coach Kristian Woolf.

What each club needs before round 1

Dolphins: Figure out their halves out

For pretty much the entirety of last season, Isaiya Katoa and Kodi Nikorima were locked in as Wayne Bennett’s first choice halves pairing. That was until the pointy end of the season when they were both sensationally replaced by Sean O’Sullivan and Jake Averillo - who guided them to a 40-6 demolition of the Broncos in Round 26. Whether new coach Kristian Woolf follows in Bennett’s lead and sticks with the latter pairing, or has his own combination in mind, he’ll need to have his decision made early to set his side up for success this season.

I think this is right. Need to get a long term 5/8. Is it going to be Averillo? After a full off season training at 5/8 I think he might be good but if not, back to square 1. Kodi does ok at 5/8 but I think only a stop gap solution.

Woolf will back in Katoa for halfback

The 5/8 is very very open between Averillo, Nikorima, O'Sullivan and Donoghue.

Had Fuller been ready for seasons start I'm in no doubt it would have been Averillo.

Aside from Katoa going to next level, JMK playing the entire season and Gilbert injury free they need 3 other things especially since I can see Woolf regenerating the side

1. Keeley or Teague have a breakout season
2. At least one of Walsh, Naufahu or Nonu to have a breakout season
3. At least one of Waqa, Jackson or Rasmussen to have a breakout season
Like Bostock, Plath & Fuller enjoyed breakout years in 2024

I think 5/8 is out of Averillo and Niko. SOS and Donoghue only if there are a lot of injuries or suspensions.
I don't think Teague is going to make it. He was very good in juniors but he's not a hooker and is too small to be a good forward.
Agree about #2 and #3.

I agree with you on Teague but one of he or Keeley needs a real breakout year more likely Keeley.
