DOLPHINS

  1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow
  2. Jamayne Isaako
  3. Jake Averillo
  4. Herbie Farnworth
  5. Jack Bostock
  6. Kodi Nikorima
  7. Isaiya Katoa
  8. Daniel Saifiti
  9. Jeremy Marshall-King
  10. Mark Nicholls
  11. Felise Kaufusi
  12. Tom Gilbert
  13. Max Plath

  14. Ray Stone
  15. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki
  16. Connelly Lemuelu
  17. Kenny Bromwich

best 17 according to Courier Mail. I think they are way off.
  • Kaufusi is now a middle forward. Starting at prop or the bench.
  • Keeley will be in but Kenny B probably won't.
  • I think Tupou might be pushing Averillo for the centre spot with Averillo pushing Niko for 5/8.
  • What to do with Gilbert and Plath? They both have to be in the 17 but I'm interested to see what Woolf will do.

I really believe Donoghue and Keeley will be in a best 17 before too long maybe one of them for round 1

Gotta agree with mr_c mr_c. If anything, Niko on the bench as a utility and Averillo 5/8. But with Plath also on the bench as a utility, allowing Gilbert to start at lock, I think Niko will be 5/8 and Tupou or Averillo will start the year in Cup.

Lets see what happens I'm not saying Round 1 but them two will force their way into the 17 and will remain there

Interesting team Woolf is going with. Averillo at No.6, Tupou at 5 is interesting. I don't think any of those forwards will be in the round 1 team. Keeley in particular is and interesting omission.

Donga at 1 another position to add to his utility value

I'm very happy to see LJ Nonu there

He's only up against Hammer for the fullback spot. I guess Averillo is next on line but Kurt isn't far away either. He'll get a chance at some point during the year. I think 5/8 is his best spot.

I'm still predicting Donga will eventually force his way into the best 17 during the way.

Woolf will begin moving on the older guard too many players became complacent and tired last year.

Penrith have set a standard of fitness for the last 5 years, Canterbury stepped it up taking fitness to a whole new level and both Brisbane and Souths setting the fitness yardsticks for 2025 behind Canterbury. A lot of the team were unfit, tired and lethargic and this is where Woolf will attempt to add in players with more energy and enthusiasm if they don't aim up. I expect Donga to be a big winner from all this.

Donga is the best utility in the club and if Averillo doesn’t work at 6 he could end up there. Some players will benefit under Woolf and every year there’s a bolter. Last year it was Bostock and Plath. Year before Lemuelu went from a late call up for round 1 due to Herman being injured at training to keeping his spot for the entire season.

Plath said on a podcast that Woolf really believes in Donga. Obviously I’m biased towards Donga.

What plath says means nothing and i hardly belive. Kurt's going be fitter than others i think you see his value in qld cup side like last season woolf needs all the experience he can get

Plath is his good mate. Of course he talks him up.

Good luck to Kurt. If he starts well in Cup, he'll get another chance in the NRL at some stage this year.
