Dolphins should be taking a good look at and possibly raiding Newscastles lower grades for their best young players. I'm stunned they paid that much for Dylan Brown for that long. As far as I know, they now have, or next year will have the two highest paid players in the competition. Ponga might well be worth it. A lot of people say he's the best player in the competition. But I didn't think Dylan Brown would be in the top 30!

I think for some time to come there are going to be some seriously disgruntled Newcastle players earning less than their ability and performances suggest they should be earning.

They did that with Kurt Donoghue (Central Charleston & Dudley) and look at the abuse he cops in here....

Did what with him? Paid him 1.3 mil a year?
Red Red suggested Dolphins should look at raiding Newcastle's lower grades they did that a couple years back with Kurt Donoghue who's a local player from Central Charlestown Butcher Boys & Dudley but look at the hate he now cops.

Was he in high demand? I don't know what your relationship is to him but seriously, enough. The only negative comments I've seen on him is that he is isn't a better 5/8 than Kodi, he isn't a better fullback than Hammer, he isn't a better utility than Kodi, he isn't a hooker. The last 2 of those are true without a doubt. I very much doubt anyone other than people with a personal relationship with him would say he is a better 5/8 than Kodi or a better fullback than Hammer but it may be they are better served playing in other positions to allow Donoghue to come into the starting team.

Galvin will be talking to clubs in Nov.

We need to be one of those clubs. Would be a perfect partner for Katoa and would set our spine to build for years.

Roosters and Eels have already publicly declared their hand and Gus didn't hide his admiration for Galvin on 100% Footy.

Galvin isn't going to leave a wooden spoon club to join a club right in the hunt for the 2025 and 2026 wooden spoons.

WTF are you talking about, wooden spoon club? Bulldogs and Tigers are wooden spoon heavyweights. He's already at the Tigers and I don't think anyone thinks he'd go to the Bulldogs. FFS, they already pay overs for Kikau, Burton, Crighton, Mahony. Even with Gould's creative salary cap management, no way they can afford to pay overs for another big name.

Hey Geoffrey competition is only one round old and the Top 6 is so clear cut to the rest of the competition.

Bulldogs have already signed an alpha prop for 2026 and the roster they have is largely very young except for Mann & Kikau and all bar Sexton locked in for long deals. Gus has loads of cap space and will have roster spots the only issue for Gus is that our pathways is now brimming with too many good players coming through the system and how does he keep them in the confines of the Top 30 and Development allocations.

Parramatta will come in with 1.1m and Wests will go around the same. Roosters will nudge the 900-1m mark and Bulldogs will be 800-875 range, It will be a four way battle for Galvin everyone else wasting their time.

Bulldogs are comfortable in the Top 6 this year whether we can beat Brisbane, Penrith, Melbourne or Manly is another matter.

Burton is our highest paid player and he's on less than 900. Gus has done very well keeping the prices down.

Burton is a better player than Brown.

If he's a one trick pony I assume you mean the kicking game it's absolute elite and jams teams into their right hand corners where they can only get out of the 20 if they get a penalty. Burton kicks it high, kicks it deep and the chasers are there to pounce. He rarely uses the spiral as Gould identified it as a low percentage play and only unleashes it when they're chasing points.

Burton at 5/8 would be amazing for the Dolphins just for his kicking game alone.
