Yep, Bulldogs caught out recently with their owner offering pub deals after playing life, Gus quickly suggested Arthur Laundy keep his mouth shut.

For me that would be like a red flag to a bull, however, this comp isn't the cleanest on the planet. And I'd wager the NRL prefers blissful ignorance amongst the fans, rather than a truly clean and even playing field.

I mean which is easier to achieve? I'd say convincing the public with media spin, and a large broom and wide carpet would be the most effective.

Dylan Brown's management asking for 1.2 mil a season:ROFLMAO: . Even with the lack of good halves, that is just funny.
Yeah that’s massive overs.

Although it seems to get our first big name, we are going to have to pay massive overs. Which I think we have been avoiding, which would be why we haven’t got many over the line.

I’d suggest this is good management by the club. Even though I’d love to see a marquee in our halves, I am happy that they are prudent.

What big name is going to be available anytime soon? I think this team is going to be a team which ends up re-signing names which have become big rather than signing big names.

Yep.

And we are probably already seeing that happen with some of our first-year signings, like Hammer.
Herbie would get more than Dolphins are paying him if he was on the market now. Ditto for Katoa. Plath might need a very significant upgrade if he picks up from where he left off.

Don't think any them will get that much higher than they are on

Not that much. If it was that much, they'd demand a renegotiated contract. Barring Plath who might be in for a big upgrade.

So I thought about this.

What about Joseph Manu to play 5/8th. He has a one year deal with rugby. He is an awesome runner of the ball.

I’d throw some big dollars at him.

Look at the the way the NRL turned a blind eye to the Ben Hunt deal with Broncos when we all know the "job after football" has so many holes in it and even worse V'Landys hitting Mam with a feather duster all but condoning what happened. The NRL need the Broncos up the top for ratings, crowds and finals interest.

Correct. Plath, JMK and Lemuelu after their original contracts have since extended not once but twice.

Hammer and Gilbert both signed for 2023-24 seasons, both extending during 2023 until end of 2028.

Katoa was signed for 2023 to 2025 seasons and last year was extended until the end of 2028.

JMK and Lemuelu both signed for 2023-24 seasons, both in early 2023 extended until the end of 2025, last year JMK extended until the end of 2028 and a few weeks ago Lemuelu extended until end of 2026.

Plath in April 2023 signed until the end of 2025 part of the deal was development contract in 2024, in November 2023 he was promoted to top 30 for 2024 & extended until 2026 season and after the Darwin game he was extended again until end of 2027.

These players never got close to the November 1 feeding frenzy and have long moved on from their original deals with the club. Dolphins been very efficient in just adding a year in some cases well before silly season starts. JMK was a brilliant one as poor old James Hooper didn't know what to write or talk about :)
