Recruitment and Retention for 2027

He'll get at least one, probably 2, possibly 3 contracts after this. I don't think the length of this contract is going to worry him. But I guess depends on his outlook on life. Is he married? That's the kind of thing to keep one staying in one place and want a long contract as a result.
Younger they are the length of contract is more strategic then an insurance. Is there a new team coming in? can i push for more money with demand, is there a rise in the salary cap forecast. Agents generally fall end of contracts around those types of things, to ensure negotiations are in the clients favour.

Sometimes they get ratchet clauses in long contracts to cover rises in the cap, I honestly think Herbie will stay he’s happy at the dolphins.

Yep even Connor Treacy at Bulldogs got a ratchet clause lol so a player of Herbie's standing will be offered a rise if the cap rises.

I heard at least the top players are not paid a fixed sum but as a % of the overall cap.

Yesh it ends up being that way. And they end up getting into trouble as a club when the player is older.

Look at Latrell. Last 4 years i thonk the most games he has played in a season is 11. Amd he takes up a huge chunk of the cap.

Woolf says there is room for 2

Whilst the recruitment of George Williams is puzzling, and Kodi killing it makes it look worse, and looking at it from the outer there are question marks.

Communicating the plan to the fan base is important, especially when you're in the middle of a a bad start to the season a few months ago.

So if Woolf is suggesting the plan was always to keep both and to have healthy competition in the halves, and depth when rep duty or injures (As Kodi is accustom to) hit. I am onboard and supportive of it. I suspect it wasn't the plan, they thought to move on an aging half they thought would decline, and they pulled the trigger early on a replacement of the same age (a mistake). However, I could be wrong. That being said, if it was always the plan, I am on board and happy about the abundance of depth if they can keep them all happy with the playing time the players want. Winning will keep them happy.

One exception. I am happy with all the depth, if it doesn't push out our main players due to salary cap constraints. I'm not on board if we don't keep the likes of a young Herbie and Bostock, add Hammer to that and Katoa when his contract comes up. I'm not okay with the statement "you cant keep them all". I'm not suggesting we can keep them all. I am suggesting we can keep all the most important contributors to success. And not cap bloat unnecessarily. Depth is good, but not at the expense of your best players.

Keen to see what happens. Been a good ride so far.

Everyone knows he made a mistake. Just needs to own it and mitigate as much as possible.

Keeley to Storm next week.

This means only 26 of Top 30 spots are filled and clubs required to have all 30 spots filled by June 30.

Who’s made a mistake Woolf?. Has the signing officially been announced, we are criticising a player that’s yet to play for us . Give the lad a chance we have done pretty well with recruitment so far except for Tupo . Not bad considering the amount of players we have used.

I am not criticising him at all. Just saying he is superfluous to our needs because we have Katoa who is obviously going nowhere and Niko has been killing it. Getting better with age. He must be re-signed. This being so, if George Williams is content to play for Redcliffe unless there is an injury, he is superfluous to our needs.

I remember when he played for Canberra, he was one of the best halfbacks in the competition. If not the best.

His last good year was 2020. If things don't go his own way he'll head for the exit gates. Schneider is happy and settled in the backup role and I would really invest in Batten who played NSW U19 and also Oloapu out with injury at the moment from the NRLQ game he played for Dolphins he's only 21 and has already played NRL.

The club have made offers to kodi , it’s up to him if he wants to stay, but from a club point of view they have to cover all bases hence having a signing like Williams. Because if kodi doesn’t sign then we are short.

No way is he in the cup side like all the guys who come here we seem to have them all on same page brad goes we need a third as lat night showed he be great bench impact if someine v comes if for hia or injury every guy thats come here has proved the doubters wrong in past n it happen again woolf proved once again last night he knows what hes doing just need look at previous comments about players and teams fitness to realize lol woolf knows way more
