Attacking dummy-half Jeremy Marshall-King is everything for Redcliffe with the classy hooker locked in until the end 2028 – the longest deal at the club alongside Isaiya Katoa and Tom Gilbert. Max Plath impressed when Marshall-King was injured in 2024 and is a handy backup.

Could argue JMK is the teams most valuable player but I have doubts about his ability to play at entire season in the middle without injury. He's just built too slight. I hope I'm wrong. Plath does very well filling in but he doesn't offer much of a threat in attack.

His slight frame doesn't cause broken ankles or crook shoulders. He has just had a bit of bad luck on that front. A full season of JMK would certainly influence their place on the ladder but injury can occur to anyone at anytime. RL takes no prisoners.

In 2022 he played every game that year for the Bulldogs

If he had the same injuries in 2023 and 2024 yes he's injury prone. He had no shoulder issues last year and the ankle was just bad luck.

JMK is the the Dolphins most valuable player.

Completely forgot that Harrison Graham is still in the Top 30

I think they advised him that he could look elsewhere for '25. But he's unlikely to score a top 30 gig anywhere else. He didn't even crack first grade in '24. Maybe next year will be better for him.

He's been part of pre-season training and still has a Top 30 contract.

Doesn't quite work like that unless a club is willing to sign him for 2025 the Dolphins are lumped with him for 2025 in the Top 30. He's not going to give up his payments.

Train-and-trial list

DOLPHINS

  • Josh Allen (Dolphins)
  • Will Partridge (Dolphins)
  • Ethan Quai-Ward (Dolphins)
  • Ben Stevanovic (Norths Devils)
  • Peter Hola (Norths Devils)
  • Cooper Marshall (CQ Capras)
  • Larson Dale-Doyle (CQ Capras)
  • Tane Kiriona (CQ Capras)

Analysis: The Dolphins are leaning on their pathways over the pre-season with eight train-and-trial players coming from their three feeder clubs. Josh Allen and Will Partridge are new recruits, who have joined the Dolphins’ Cup side following impressive seasons with Northern Pride. Allen is a 23-year-old prop who cuts an imposing figure at 195cm tall and weighing 112kg, while Partridge is a 27-year-old centre, who scored 16 tries in 16 games this year. Ethan Quai-Ward is a very handy pick-up with the 25-year-old joining the Dolphins from Broncos feeder club Souths Logan after being named Queensland Cup’s Centre of the Year. Ben Stevanovic and Peter Hola have made the move from Sydney and Canberra respectively to sign with Norths Devils and spend the pre-season with the Dolphins’ NRL squad. Stevanovic, a 23-year-old halfback, has spent the last two years with the North Sydney Bears and finished the 2023 season with the most try assists and linebreak assists in NSW Cup. Despite his consistent performances in NSW Cup, Hola wasn’t re-signed by the Raiders. He was linked to a Super League move but instead will try his luck in the Dolphins’ system. Outside back Cooper Marshall and second-rower Larson Dale-Doyle have spent the last four and three seasons respectively with the Capras, while Tane Kiriona — a former Queensland under 19s representative — has joined the club from the Raiders.

will all be on the contract he has and the clauses, the fact that they told him he can look for a club tells me 2 things he wont be in 30 at all for 2025, and b if he was staying it be under a new contract as his contract would of ceased as off the end this year. and if stayed it be on clubs terms if he was in there plans they wouldnt be telling him hes needs look for new cub hence they give him separate new contract where e be in the quota for the feeder sides

no way he stays under same contract

for sure but if they have told the kid hes not wanted and can look and go anytime they hardly going keep him in the 30 \ they probbaly aggree mutually to cease last year with no payout with cheap contracts tends to be the way because of the type of contract they have theres no way he carries on for 2025 just because he has year to go

Harrison Graham won't be the first or last player to be told to look elsewhere with time remaining on their contract. He's not the first at Dolphins that belongs to Brenko Lee where the Dolphins had to pay out on the salary cap what Easts Tigers didn't cough up. The team I have followed the longest is the Bulldogs and Gus is the master at moving players on with time remaining. The player unless terminated for breaches of contract still has to be paid out in full whether it's in full or in part by the current club. If no club signs Graham he's Top 30 with Dolphins in 2025 whether people like it or not.

There's only 4 original contracts left at Dolphins - Harrison Graham, Felise Kausfui, Sean O'Sullivan and Kenny Bromwich. The only conjecture with the original Graham contract was when he was going to be promoted to the Top 30 it was fast tracked to 2023 instead of when it was alleged to be as he was on Dev Deal into Top 30 deal by 2024-25. The rest of the squad have either re-signed, been signed, been promoted or had options activated.

Because Graham has a deal with Dolphins he doesn't have the right to accept going to another club. He will only leave if he can snare a two year deal or is assured of NRL game time. Graham is at training with the Dolphins and been sharing on his Instagram stories of himself training with Dolphins.

Yes we all acknowledge he was one of many younger to middle age players who regressed in 2024. He wasn't alone as there were also Connelly Lemuelu, Jake Averillo (except for 2 games), Valynce Te Whare, Sean O'Sullivan and Mason Teague also regressed.

"posa jj oliver" - all had 1 year deals. Lee had a 2 year deal.

Lets go through the current Top 30 and their contracts. I'm right :)

Hammer - signed new contract extension so not original contract
Herbie - signing for 2024
Katoa - signed new contract extension
Bostock - promoted from dev to top 30 and later signed new contract extension
Averillo - signing for 2024
Isaako - signed new contract extension
Tupou - signed for 2025
Nikorima - signed new contract extension
Donoghue - originally a train & trial, promoted for 2023, signed dev for 2024 & signed top 30 for 2025
Feagai - signed for 2025
O'Sullivan - on original deal
Fuller - signed new contract for top 30 promotion
Lemuelu - signed new contract extension in 2023 original deal wasn't for 2025
Saifiti - signed for 2025
Kaufusi - on original deal
Graham - on original deal only conjecture is when it was to change from Dev to Top 30 he was promoted from Dev in 2023
Walsh - signing for 2024 promoted to top 30 for 2025
Marshall-King - has since signed two extensions after original deal
Kerr - signed for 2024 arrived earlier than planned
Bromwich - on original deal
Finefeuiaki - signed for 2025
Nicholls - club activated option in his contract
Teague - club & player activated mutual option
Plath - signed during 2023 & has since signed two extensions
Waqa - signed dev deal during 2023 & has since signed a top 30 promotion
Keeley - signed for 2024 season
Stone - signed contract extension
Flegler - signed for 2024 season
Gilbert - signed new contract extension

That leaves O'Sullivan, Kausfui, Bromwich and Graham.

This shows the confidence the current squad has in Woolf they were all prepared to sign new deals after he was confirmed as the coach in 2025 or activate clauses in contracts.

Club could cut him from the top 30 but it would still have to pay him 100% of his salary. So better keeping him in the top 30. Several top 30 players at every club never play NRL.

not if they mutaully agreed contract which most them delopment/ 1st year players have then nothing is paid out and the big hint is fact hes already ben told hes free look if its not a mutual aggrement contract he woulda had to wait yes hence if stayed solely in qld cup it be with a feeder side that want dolphins but one our others and new contract be done no way he be seeing out or be paid out 4 25 its hard reality of been young player

If Graham agrees not to get paid or if another clubs picks up 100% of his contract, Dolphins don't have to pay him. There is zero chance of the first and almost zero of the second.
