The club were perfectly fine with his intended departure. The problem being that he was unwanted elsewhere. He is only a middle of the road player. He is fantastic sometimes but woeful on other occasions.
What he does well and run hard and make metres. He does ok in the centres but better in the backrow.

come back when you can prove they wanted him to go as i know its untrue , but again stop believing bs pretty hard to offer a guy a contract when hes not on the radar of a club because he intends to stay

He's fit and does everything to the very best of his ability. Problem is that his ability is limited. Don't mean to knock him. I rate him. Just saying he is nowhere near as talented as the best centres in the competition. He's not a NRL standard centre. I think he can make a valuable addition to the forwards.

The best summation of Aitken I have seen.

And I use to watch him every week at the Dragons.

He is a woeful centre. We tried him in the backrow, back in those days, and he killed it.

He doesn’t lack effort and heart. He lacks talent and skills at the centre position.

Certainly he intends to stay because he wants to get a pay cheque. And he has a contract.

We want to get rid though. However, if we highlight the fact no one will take on the contract.

Persuasion is a fine art. Where everyone needs to think they are winning in the deal.

It looks like he might even be starting in the backrow. Didn't do anything wrong in the trials. I usually don't look at stats but wouldn't surprise me if Aitken stats against the Warriors were far better than Lemuelu and Kafusi.

Specially with Gilbert out. Might go for a lock rotation of Kafusi/Stone and leave Aitken and Lemuelu in the backrow.

That’s a good shout.

He has great utility value in the squad. Should an injury happen during the game he can slot in almost anywhere.

Kodi playing halves utility. Aitken everything else.

However, if he is ur number 1 starter in a skill position, your team will be in trouble for quality, and will struggle to make finals.

Not a bad idea but I think Wayne might want to squeeze one more year out of Kafusi playing on the edge for 80min. Aitken might even beat Lemuelu out of a starting spot. Without Tommy, he might want harder workers like Aitlen starting rather than someone like Lemuelu who is more likely to do something really good but not get through as much work.

Could Aitken play lock?

My only issue is his ability to offload. Aitken had a tendency to bomb a try due to not being able to set up a hole runner. If he just acted like a battering ram, I’d have no problem. If he was instructed to be a ball playing lock, it would be a hard pass from me.

Yep. No way he could be a ball playing lock. But then again, Gilbert isn't either.

I thought he was outstanding too. I thought he was playing injured/too many minutes during his drop off.

Looking for him to continue this year
I think the effect of Gilbert doing a lot of hard work in the middle and the much better service from dummy half JMK offers had a very bad effect on the rest of the forward pack in particular.
