Who would you pick at 5/8 to replace Nikorima?

Averillo or Donoghoe or O'Sullivan?

I would be going with Averillo he trained much of the pre-season there and his game is really maturing this year.

I think Donga is too valuable as the lock utility player and with the forwards shortage can't be moved away.

I bring either Fuller, Naufahu or Nonu onto the left wing.

I would go with Donoghue and then promote one of the development contract forwards onto the bench.

Everything will be based around Katoa and getting as close to like for like for Nikorima

O’Sullivan will dilute Katoa game and isn’t a running threat

My only fear is the progression of the likes of Symonds, Jackson, Rasmussen and Walsh isn’t progressing as fast as Nonu or Naufahu the latter twice been Dolphins 18th. Add to that Fuller is now available 4 games back and 2 weeks rest.

Graham has gone well in 3 of the games he’s played this year but he and JMK don’t have that second position it’s one of the other.

Donga is just more valuable in the lock utility role than Averillo is as a winger and easily to use Fuller there or blood Naufahu or Nonu.

Averillo is in my view the closest like for like with Nikorima and this is now Katoa team it’s all built around Katoa.

Probably depends on the opposition. Cronulla have a big but not fast pack. So probably better to go with one of the big forwards. But I honestly have no idea what Woolf will do. What you say (Averillo 5/8) wouldn't surprise me at all.

If there were forwards available Donga could be 5/8 but Graham lack of versatility will hurt him. Donga is too important in that lock utility role to move. He did a great job at 5/8 on the weekend but as that unity role.

The Cronk & Johns show last night reckon Donga value this year gone up 100k lucky Woolf re signed him during the pre season.

Donoghue played 6 in his juniors , but even having him at 13 will still benefit who will be replacing Nikorima. Haven't seen much of his kicking game.

He was a 5/8 for his junior side and when he made the Real NRL side for Butcher Boys at 17 they used him at centre. He played 5/8 in the year he had at Flegg for Knights including the grand final against Penrith where Katoa was halfback.

Capras used Donga lots at lock.

Woolf has a number of players playing much better than Bennett could get from them. Donoghue, Kerr and Niko the 3 that immediately come to mind. Katoa as well but that's probably more just his natural progression.

We could say a lot more in the good re Katoa as well.

Bennett was always a big fan of Milford and the O'Sullivan's and always looked for ways to have them in the team. Milford is gone, one O'Sullivan is gone and the other O'Sullivan is on the way out.

Woolf had Katoa in the Tonga World Cup team before either of them started their first official training at the Dolphins.

I don't think Wayne was a fan of SOS but just judged, correctly, that Katoa wasn't yet ready for NRL every week. SOS was the best available. He (SOS) did well considering his general ability but was only ever a place holder until Katoa was ready.

I think Bennett was a fan and suggested as such in Dawn of the Dolphins when he originally went to Broncos and I do think his Dolphins signing was a bit of Flanagan about it all.

What we are seeing right now at Dolphins is the Katoa Dolphins this is firmly Izzy's team and wow what a generational player. Watch some of the tries he set up on the weekend was just crazy most are talking about Hammer's first try but watch what he does in the Nikorima, Averillo and Hammer 2nd try in making a fool of Campbell Graham who is regarded as the second best defensive centre in the game. Katoa made him come up with some shocking defensive reads.

I believe whoever is 5/8 will be who's most like Nikorima and who best suits the Katoa World we're living in.
