I thought Katoa was brilliant. What a player we have there.

His ability to change tempo going to the line and creating space for hole runners is excellent.

He is a gun

I know some don't value his opinion. But here it is. he is talking about Katoa at the start.

I hope we can put a team around this young kid, because I think he is highest caliber.

PS. Im not related to him. I just like what I see from the young half.
Was I too harsh on him? Maybe a bit but in the second half, offered nothing.

  1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow: 4/10 He played. Didn't make any mistakes that I can remember. That's as much as I can say.
  2. Jamayne Isaako: 6/10 Was ok. Went looking for work and no mistakes.
  3. Jake Averillo: 3/10 Same as for Hammer but even less effective.
  4. Herbie Farnworth: 9/10 By far our best. Should be captain.
  5. Jack Bostock: 5/10 Similar as for Isaako without the goal kicking.
  6. Kodi Nikorima: 7/10 Second best of us.
  7. Isaiya Katoa: 5/10 well and truly gone off the boil from the rep games at the end of last year.
  8. Daniel Saifiti: 7/10 Played ok.
  9. Jeremy Marshall-King: 6/10 nowhere near as good as he was in the last 2 years when he wasn't injured.
  10. Felise Kaufusi: 5/10 I haven't seen the stats but I think his running metres are probably around 50.
  11. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki: 6/10 a few good charges and tackles.
  12. Max Plath: 5/10 Trying to get into the game but it's very obvious an edge backrower isn't his position.
  13. Tom Gilbert: 5/10 Over the first few rounds, not the player who was injured in Origin almost 2 years ago.
  14. Kurt Donoghoe: 4/10 Another bloke Woolf has playing out of position.
  15. Oryn Keeley: 4/10 He's an 80min player but Woolf brought him for about 15 as far as I can remember. Just crazy stuff!
  16. Mark Nicholls: 4/10 Tries hard but been going around a year too long. Should see out his career playing for Redcliffe.
  17. Ray Stone: 5/10 tackled well when he came on.
Just checked the stats. Kaufisi a cool 61 run metres! Nicholls 42 and Plath 61. Gilbert had a good charge for around 20m in the first half. Finished with 83m. 3 games in a row Gilbert, Plath and Hammer have been bad. Pre-season I think most people would have picked them as 3 of our best 5.

Was I too harsh on him? Maybe a bit but in the second half, offered nothing.
I think you were, if you look purely at him then yea he didn't have a great game. If you factor in the lack of go forwards by the pack and the lack of time he had to make decisisons he did pretty good. If you put him with a group that could give him time to look good he'd be flying.

i seen enough there to be happy just need play full 80 not clock off , it will come
When will it come? They need to win at least 12 of 21 just to possibly sneak out a playoff spot. How the hell are they going to manage that? Their next 5 opponents are Bris, Pen, GC, Melb and Canberra. Where do you see a definite win in that bunch?

If they start 0-8 (or even 1-7), Dolphin mgmt will be scrambling to work out a payout sum for their current coach. Hopefully it doesn't come to that because no coach survives 0-8. Let alone, a rookie one.

But, on current form, I don't see where a victory is going to come from in the next month or so.

Anyone who thinks Woolf's job is under threat is delusional
He's not yet but if we go 0 from 8 like Blockade Blockade said, he will be under pressure for sure. And Bris, Pen, Mel are probably the 3 best teams. GC had a very good win and dominated us in the trial game. Canberra have been very good until today. Without dramatic improvement, where do you see a win coming from? On current form, I'd say Canberra are the only hope.

I don’t think you were harsh. It’s what you saw.

I thought he played very well. I am far from an expert.

Second half saw players unforced errors and penalties go through the roof. Making him look worse than he was, I thought. And with that momentum going against us, it’s hard to wrestle back. Especially when you’re a youngster have drop ball and stupid penalties.

Bostock’s drop coming out from the line.

Dongas heap offside penalty.

Gilbert acting like a dope.

Averillo dropping it.

Ray Stone having feet for hands

And many others.

And when they are littered throughout the game. Not much you can do to change that.

There are no layers I thought would be good and some I didn’t. However, it seems there is a big difference in quality amongst the squad. Recruitment is going to need to be more spot on from now going forward.

These rejects coming from lower sides are sent going to cut it. And facing the fact we may have to pay for overs in some areas is just a reality.
