As for the Dragons, I thought they were robbed vs the Warriors but their pack worries me a bit. Our backs are way better but their forwards gave the Warriors pack a bit of a bath.

Young and talented. Should have snapped up Pasifiki Tonga when he was unhappy.

Worst officiating I have seen this year. That was a crime that game.

Donga was poor, to the point he deserved hooking for the amount of errors he made. With players, its a flip of the coin whether they live up to potential or not. And a lot of young blokes look good in the lower grades and kill it, to come up and not have the guts for the top. One of the best youngsters I have seen was a guy called Matt Mundine, and Kyle Stanley. Both killed it, one didn't have it mentally and one didn't have it physically in the top grade.

Making calls on whether a youngster is going to be good is just a guess, and the quality of coaching development. You take a punt and try and develop them. The NFL selects youngsters based on tangible/measurable metrics. Height, Speed, Strength in a thing called the combine. They also hold interviews to determine character. Those are the ultimate factors that go into the final place they are selected in the draft.

On Donga, based on his first half, you'd hold him back, he has the age and metrics, so you develop and hope he gets it. He can probably see a bloated 13 dressingroom, and decided to pull his finger out. Because if this season was like his early form, he would be somewhere else next season.

Its not hard to see he has the foundation, but mentally is where good players are made.

This is a top 4 team. Making the finals isn't a pass mark. Let's not get in the habit of setting the bar low.

How many bulldogs make the Dolphins starting squad?

The same tram that made top 4 last year.

I have 0. Some of you may put critta in. I rate Herbie higher, and critta is playing 5/8th at the moment, and I rate Kodi higher.

So suggesting making it is a pass, he has rocks in his head.

For me I remember those bad games last year when he was 13 and how he was never giving less than all that he had both sides of the ball with both aggression and skill. Sounds crazy but just seeing those games had me pushing his wheelbarrow from then on. He IS the best all around footballer in the comp if you had to cover every position. People might forget he did a pre season at fullback on top of his resume for Fiji in the halves and his proficiency in the middle on top of that.

He is a rare talent. Nowadays he is just injured or he flies too close to the sun.

Listening to an interview with Donga on SEN. He even admits his first year in the NRL he underachieved. So he even says that he wasn't playing well.

He also mentioned that he was a 5/8th and coming in he thought he was a 5/8th, however he loves the 13 role and calls himself a lock now.

Interestingly, he is a touch footy player, all his youth was touch footy. Constantly reject by Newcastle, until he was given a crack played 1 good year in jersey flegg (u/20's), then came to the Dolphins. So very interesting that all this potential that people on here see, could only have come from 1 good season in jersey flegg. They pretty much took a punt on him.

He is loving the Dolphins, contracted till 2028, great mates with Bostock.

Mentions Woolf was a bare knuckle fighting champion. Doesn't crash out, stays cool.

Both Bostock and Donga have young girls up here. Looks like they will be staying long term!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you guys are interested to listen to it, its called The Run Home with Scope and Fletch. Bostock rings in for a guest appearance. Worth the listen.

Crighton would be. Maybe Preston. Both are hard ones. Drop Bostock and Lemuelu? Galvin might be in as a 5/8 too. Not on current form but due to his age and fact he's a much better 5/8 than halfback, he'd be in a battle with Niko.

Matt and I have talked about how he is such an odd combo of touch ball handling, lanky athleticism, bone jarring toughness, and intensity and IQ all in equally high amounts. Watch him closely and you can't miss his impact even if it's just where he turns up or how he communicates. I suspect he is also kind of close with Gilbert and stoney as they all come off the bench similar time and they all love a bit of pain.

As for potential it can't be undervalued that we had Bennet and O'Sullivan assembling that 2023 team. There were some real average names thrown in, but to think we somehow landed with the likes of Izzy, bossy, donga, and Plath. All young and untested and look how good they all are. That is beyond a rarity to just pluck players that good from essentially nothing, and then to successfully develop them as well through Bennet and now woolfy is very very very fortunate for us.

Also if we are comparing the dogs last year to us this year it should be considered that people like jammer and others in the know have been saying that the dogs have been over performing and that 2024 and 2025 results are likely telling a lie about results in the future. Which makes sense but also they have had the same amount of time as us and that team does not hold up to the dolphins.
