If you listen to Gilberts recent origin interview, he admits his early form was poor, and that he was making errors and not up to scratch.
He has worked hard and changed it.
In finance the first rule you learn is "The best indicator of the future is the past". Where Gilbert is concerned, he has been injured for the best part of 2 years, and the start of this year with a full offseason he started poor, even by his own admission.
If that guy is suggesting to you he shouldn't be judged harshly, with a bit of doubt, i'm glad I have him on ignore. Gilbert even by is own admission was poor. However, I am glad he is his own worst critic, and see him more positively considering he is willing to take ownership and work at correcting that. Gilbert seems sincere, where as other media trained players don't believe they are the issue sometimes.
As a Dolphin fan myself I never want to lose a game, so I am a harsh critic, when players turn it around, i'm the first to praise, however when they let the team down I yell the loudest. I wouldn't be any different from any sporting leadership group in a team. I bet Leaders in any good sporting organisation would call out bad performers well before I do, and expect standards to be lifted.
In relation to writing them off, had Gilbert continued that form till the end of the season, I wouldn't have had to write him off, with so many off contract I reckon the club would have written him off well before I did.
