In the years of the Top 8 1995-96 1999-current only one side has won the premiership outside the Top 4 being Canterbury in 1995 and they had 3 things in their favour all the ARL semi-finals bar one game were based in Sydney giving them a huge leg ups when in today's era they would have traveled to Brisbane week 2 and Canberra week 3, experience of being in the GF the year before and they had the best player in the competition in their side. It's a virtual undefeated record and no side has won it the closest Parramatta in 2009 when Jarryd Hayne hit a very peak patch of form and was the best player in the competition.

I'm just of the opinion if you don't finish in the top 4 you cant win it due to how the the final system is set up.

So for the cowboys, I don't doubt they have worked up to being good. However, they wont make the top 4.

I think the 5 teams I mentioned are going to be in the top 4 hence they have a chance.

Just on us, if we make the top 4, we will be hard to stop. Very hard. x factor wins finals, along with defence. We have both in spades. You'll say "but we have to turn on for the finals", but so does every other team. One thing I'm sure of, Nico Hynes will get the Sharks there, but he will also ensure they exit early. Warriors are all coaching, but he doesn't play the games. Penrith are looking beatable and tired. The Roosters not convincing. We are there with all of them as well, however we have been rested. Katoa should be fresh after the lay off, and if we make the top 4, we go into very ready.

I agree it's unlikely but it will happen one day. Even though we've had the wood on them for the past few games, at full strength or close to, I wouldn't like us to play them in week one 5th vs 8th elimination.

yeah but think thats because thy offer two different things ( plus i belive slatter wanted to use him (pat )more as a middle ) and also pat hadnt really had lotta game time with the injury billy shoud of used pat

They’re signing in the right positions now just not players for the sake of it. They still lack strike in the outside backs.

Their idiot fans reckon Bostock will return yet his whole life and now some of his family are all based in SEQ.

Has any 'merged' team really gone on to have a solid basis? All i hear is this half of this board doesn't talk to or like the other half. It's no wonder teams struggle to move forwards in a cohesive manner when the top suits are actively working against each other.

I wasn't sure how many if any were at lower levels. but both NRL teams are basically basket cases.

The RFL did something similar. they merged Sheffield and Huddersfield in order save Huddersfield from oblivion due to the fact the game started in Huddersfield and no more they almost immediately dropped all reference to Sheffield and limped on.

I believe both are in a very solid position financially speaking and both have a very large junior system. As we can see with the Dragons forwards and Tigers backs. Though you are right. There was one more. Manly and North Sydney were, 'The Northern Eagles'. I believe they folded and became just Manly after only 1 or 2 seasons. They are the basket cases. The billionaire owner is milking the club for all its worth. Begging the state to pay for a stadium and facilities upgrade which it is rightly refusing.

Cronulla also had no money but a lot of assets. They sold off the assets, at at least partially sold them off but are still losing a lot of money. They are wining now so people aren't talking about it but as soon as they aren't winning, expect news about how much money they are losing and how unhappy the partial owners of the assets are about supporting a club losing so much money.

I think they are the basket cases. Both play out of grounds which make Kayo look like Lang Park.

The Tigers junior system is in massive trouble.

My son used to play in the Tigers junior system, one of the biggest clubs (Enfield Feds - home of Robbie Farah) disappeared. Rego is $50 and they give the junior player everything, essentially begging kids to play, and they still dont.

The magpies hold up the venture through Wests Leagues. Balmain seems nonexistence.

The Dragons are one of the poorest clubs in the league, with one of the richest owners in the league (Bruce Gordon - Illawarra dude). Gordon owns WIN, and in my opinion seems disinterested. The Dragons strength is the illawarra junior system. This will see the kogarah based club turn into an illawarra club. How do you think St George fans will feel about that? Im a classic example, and look what I did. I will not support the Steelers.

Id categories both those teams as a basket case of the field. But you can see that in performances. Because it does translate to on the field.

I was under the impression it was the same for both clubs. The inner city clubs, St. George and Balmain have the money and the outer clubs, Wollongong and Campbelltown have the juniors and growth.
