Albert Hopoate set to join the Dolphins in 2026.

    Recruitment and retention

Modern day RL clubs don't rely on juniors anymore. That is a desperately old fashioned viewpoint. With a lot more money in the sport these days, clubs explore the open market and shape their team around these guys. I couldn't give a shit about how many Dolphin juniors advance to first grade. I...

28 players currently in the top 30 for 2026. Not sure on the developmental contract status. I haven't heard any rumours on possible future acquisitions.

Hammer out for 8 weeks. That will rule him out for any rep footy.

    Best 17 in 2026

Way too early for this, but as I stare at Mt. Fuji, I've come up with this lineup. 1 Fuller 2 Cobbo 3 Hammer 4 Farnworth 5 Bostock 6 Nikorima 7 Katoa 8 Flegler 9 Plath 10 Saifiti 11 Finefeuiaki 12 Gilbert 13 Donoghoe 14 Molo 15 JMK 16 Lemuelu 17 Stone 18 Naufahu 19 Issako 20 Walsh 21 Averillo...

    Final Round: Dolphins vs Canberra

The highest offensive team in the comp this year and the 9th most in NRL history. A 12-12 record and 9th place finish is their best result in their young history. Jamayne Issako wins his second scoring title in three years. Hammer runner up in tries scored. This club is headed for special things...

    Final Round: Dolphins vs Canberra

Not to mention blowing an 18 point HT lead to Canberra. Plenty of ifs and buts. Hopefully, next year, we will see an improvement in some of those opportunities not secured.

    Final Round: Dolphins vs Canberra

Yep. I'm anticipating a break through 2026. If the Dolphins can stay relatively healthy, they will have the rest of the comp on notice. I firmly believe that.

    Round 26 vs Titans

A win today will extend the playoff hunt till the final weekend of the season for the second consecutive year. But, unlike this year, the Dolphins controlled their own destiny and fell short. Both teams have players that can hurt you and both teams are woeful defensively. I have no idea how this...

    Round 26 vs Titans

Another nail in the coffin. I didn't watch the game as we are exploring Kyoto tonight. Hopefully, the Dolphins can finish their season off on a positive note. Starting 0-4 was always going to come back to bite them. A devastating injury toll further sealed their fate for season 2025.

    Round 26 vs Titans

Yep, injuries have killed us this year. Imagine this team even with the inclusions of Plath and Herbie. It's a 50% better squad. Offensively, this team reminds me of the Bronco juggernaut of the 90's. That team could score at will and were a threat all over the park. The Dolphins are headed in...

    Round 26 vs Titans

Feagai made 12 tackles and missed only 2. Isaako had a rough day with 2 tackles with 4 missed. Jamayne struggles to make the side next year with Cobbo arriving. Feagai won't even be in the picture.

    Round 26 vs Titans

You put too much stock into these depth/journeyman/fringe players. My bet is that Feagai is released during the off season.

    Round 25: Dolphins v Manly

Feagai is clearly a major weakness in that backline. That's why he was signed as depth from a club who no longer wanted him. He's doing his best with the limited ability that he has. Losing Bostock and Herbie was always going to be a massive hole that is impossible to fill.

    Round 25: Dolphins v Manly

Incredibly, there is still a window of opportunity there. A Dolphin win next weekend coupled with a Rooster loss has them improving to 8th. It's hard to imagine, but they are still a shot of a playoff spot (not really). Btw, thanks for the beer tips. We've had a blast tonight experiencing the...

    Round 25: Dolphins v Manly

I'm glad I was too busy being a tourist and decided not to watch this train wreck. Two 50+ scorelines in the past three weeks= the season has come crashing down. How bad are the Broncos going that they had to fight hard to beat this severely depleted squad? Onto next year where the results will...

    Round 25: Dolphins v Manly

That's an interesting bit of info there. It certainly is an urban sprawl. We've only arrived yesterday and we are still getting our heads around it. It's a fascinating place, what little we've seen of it, but the heat is next level.

    Round 25: Dolphins v Manly

Watching the game from downtown Tokyo today where the heat is oppressive and the beer is delightful. Most of the steam went out of the season with their loss to the Broncos last week and a playoff spot from this position is mainly a pipe dream. But, a win today will keep it somewhat interesting...
