That's a tough one to take. They had countless chances to win it but somehow didn't. A couple of controversial calls which is commonplace in these close games. This loss will bite hard come late August.
The game is there for the taking if they are good enough. Canberra aren't exactly imposing and have been helped along by a couple penalties. I'm sensing a Darwin like offensive explosion in the second half.
A massive game tonight, so much so that it could determine the team's fortunes re: post season play. I'd be prepared to say that a loss tonight would make it extremely difficult to qualify for September action.
Their second half schedule will certainly test them. Opponents such as Melb ×...
3 Farnworth
2 Aitken
1 Issako
Herbie had a monstrous game with 202 m, 1 T, 1 TA, 3 LB and 13 TB's. A continuance of that form will only mean good things for his team.
Aitken was the only forward to top 100 m (108). He also had a game best 50 T. He is the only forward who can hold his...
This "rag tag" Warriors side basically controlled that second half and didn't concede a single penalty (not too sure about that). The Dolphins looked like a second year team with numerous deficiencies. But that's OK, there are still many lessons to be learned. It's all part of the progression.
Tinkler went broke. Bennett didn't even get paid a portion of his contract. He took a crap team to a GFQ. He was not to blame for anything that happened at Newcastle.
I'd be very surprised if JMK left but the chance to continue working under WB is a big carrot. He still has a year remaining on his contract. Aitken is unlikely to be offered a new deal with the Dolphins anyways, so his departure isn't an issue.
Aitken? He played well but he was nowhere near MOTM IMO. 150 m, 27 T, 0 MT. Good numbers but they don't win without JMK tonight ( 47 T, 1 TA, 2 LBA). Hammer (2 T, 234 m) and Lemuelu was their most dangerous forward out there (LB, TA and 110 m).
43% possession, 30% territory, 4-1 penalty count, 63% CR, yet 6 points ahead. Even up those stats in the second half and the Dolphins will run away with it.
Has anyone caught wind of the sexual assault rumour that's going around? It's apparently a Dolphin player and a journo buddy of mine has supplied me with a name. I'm certainly not going to post it but if it's true, it will have serious ramifications on the club.
Yes, it would be quite the collapse to be 7-3 and not make the playoffs. But it's a really tough second half schedule with games against all the current big guns. Top 4 is a bit ambitious. A finals berth in their second year would be an incredible achievement. It will be a tough road though.
I don't think anyone is getting carried away. I still think a playoff spot will be a tough achievement. Only need 7 wins out of 15 but that sounds a lot easier than it actually is.
I don't buy that they have had a lucky draw. There are no easy games when you are a sophomore club and they...
Bostock is younger than both Cobbo and Walsh. He currently leads the NRL in linebreaks, second in tries scored and averaging 137m per game. This from a 20 yo who has played 13 career games. You're a hard marker.
I'm not sure if there is any truth in it but it's being reported in today's Sydney Morning Herald. You need to start using punctuation as your posts are very difficult to decipher.
