    Recruitment and retention

It happens a lot. Every season and almost every club has one or two players still under contract they want to let go. Typically they have to pay part of that players salary to play elsewhere and it comes out of their salary cap. That's confusing, isn't it? Team A has a player under contract...

Depends how much Parra are chipping in but in principle, I like it too. If Wolff is even looking for more middle forwards. He pulled out of the contest for the Tigers prop very early. Did he get together with his staff and decide the team didn't need another prop?

Round 22: Dolphins vs Sydney Roosters

Kevie will surely be under a lot of pressure now.

Round 22: Dolphins vs Sydney Roosters

That loss was inevitable but from now, I think we look forward to a few wins. As was the case with last year, been a rare thing in the second half of the season.

Round 22: Dolphins vs Sydney Roosters

Defence from both teams has been terrible tonight.

Great try Phins! Still in this!
  8. Equaliser

    Recruitment and retention

I don't disagree about your opinion of him but I think we are maybe ok for props or middle forwards. Probably a few I'm missing but so far at least we have: Kenny B Kafusi Gilbert Plath Kerr Flegler Nicholls Probably 1 or 2 newcomers like Jackson or Keeley. I can see why the coach doesn't...

Round 22: Dolphins vs Sydney Roosters

Love the optimism but we are missing more than half our best forward pack and they are at full strength as far as I can see. And they were already one of the big guns. Roosters by 10 First Dolphins try: Lemuelu Dolphins MoM: Kafusi

Hammer should come out and deny it.
  11. Equaliser

    Recruitment and retention

Of course but Hammer is never going to have good ball skills. Don't try to put words in my mouth. I rate Hammer as a fullback. Just saying the best fullbacks have much better ball skills than Hammer. So it's not so surprising if the Dolphins let him go as long as they have a better option...

    Recruitment and retention

His value as a centre will be less than his value as a fullback but the fact is, centre is his best position. He's a handy fullback as well. Don't mean to say otherwise. Just that the best fullbacks have much better ball skills than Hammer.

    Recruitment and retention

I was thinking also Hammer is a much better centre. Not sure Fuller is better but I think we need a real fullback. On with ball skills.

Soward was less talented but the results of the two show who was a better team player.

Time to retire Talagi. Might revisit it in about a year and decide if he's more hype than anything. I saw him play a bit for Parra and looked like a good player but I didn't get all the hype. I'd prefer Katoa who is only a year older.

Round 22: Dolphins vs Sydney Roosters

Fuller definitely needs to be in the 17. What can SOS do better than Fuller? In the event of an injury to Katoa but is that enough to have someone on the bench for?
  17. Equaliser

Round 22: Dolphins vs Sydney Roosters

Terrible loss yesterday but there are no easy games in the NRL. Considering the injuries, losing Gilbert in a trial game then Flegler. Then Aitken and JMK. How many forwards can a club lose and still be competitive? Might struggle against the Roosters.
  18. Equaliser

Round 21: Dolphins v Gold Coast Titans

Ok. I'm just saying the professionalism in the NRL far surpasses Super Rugby. But I'm sure there are some things NRL coaches can learn from them. Just not many.

Round 21: Dolphins v Gold Coast Titans

There is a lot to gain by way of poaching talented NZ rugby players. As for Australian players, they don't really matter anymore.

Round 21: Dolphins v Gold Coast Titans

    3. Kodi (was targeted by Fifita but didn't take a backward step.) 2. Kafusi (another veteran didn't make mistakes or take a backward step.) 1. Plath (still doing really well for a makeshift hooker.) Have to call out: Kerr for that incredibly dumb sin binning 2 weeks in a row. Isaako has been...
