I think PNG could do well in the long run, big local following already got a qcup team. that tax free living thing people are talking about plus the added bonus of you can get some decent players who will mis out on a green and gold shirt and want to play international can claim PNG via residency.

Plus the amount of money your government is prepared to pump into the place in geopolitical influence.
Mm not sure if tgere qld cup team is to go on they sacked a huge amount just recently where I belive there were all not following. The booze n discipline laws club had

Jury still out for mine

PNG has a chance to be successful but why isn't V'Landys using the political money to set up PNG sides in the Connell, Meninga and NRLQ comps for this year and set up development squads in the other age groups. Their only hope is having players come through the system and what Dolphins have got right is they set up so many systems before they entered in NRL. In 2022 they had Redcliffe and Capras from Connell to Cup, Wide Bay in Connell and development squad/systems in Redcliffe, CQ and Wide Bay/Burnett regions the fruits are coming through right now. PNG need to start a year earlier.

I think they have a very robust domestic competition.
