Did anyone see SoS starting and Katoa not in the 17? I thought there is a good chance of that vice-versa.
yeah i did think about it kodi wasnt ready last year and niether was milf so with kodi ready i really dont see him getting much nrl time

with Euan Aitken, Kurt Donoghoe, Edrick Lee, Anthony Milford, Kodi Nikorima, Tesi Niu, Ray Stone, Valynce Te Whare, Jarrod Wallace, James Walsh

though stone has club option going be really intresting see how many are going stick around and if we get the kid from cowboys as well as jnr from tigers just how many will sign on can see a few with longer contracts getting marching orders if they dont step up

From what I saw Katoa will be back in id hope. Wayne must just be protecting the youngster. Because for the life of me I can't see why SoS an NRL starter let alone Qld cup Starter.

SoS is one of the best halfbacks in the comp, in the QLD Cup. Surely Wayne isn't keeping him around due to his friendship with his dad.

katoa is no better than sean dude cant kick cant tackle nor run with the ball i be very suprised if we saw changes and not because of peter been there it be because he wants senior halfs

Neither can SoS, oh, and SOS has no speed either so isnt a threat when running the ball.

Look dude, I get it, you love SoS, but mate, i shake my head at some of your posts.

I don't mind your love for SOS. A lot of people won't brook any criticism of this or that player for various reasons. But what's with your dislike for Katoa? I'd say he's ahead of his time. Only 19 this year. Has to work on his kicking game for sure but other than that, I'd say he's progressing very nicely and he's already our best halfback.

never said i dont like him but i just dont think we should be pinning our hopes on a 20 year i have seen plenty young kids fall by the way side pretty quickly and if hes not got it at 20 by time hes sos age you really think hes going have it

the answers no as by time 2025 ends thats crunch time

there lies the big picture for mine phins are relying on the fact hes got to preform theres no other option , in our club with older players or on the market in next two years

just dont see anything changing halfs wise for a while with recruitment

just need give sully time guys had 6 years in nrl but not even had 50 games and yes there be plenty that say hes a reserve grade player at best but if the goat still wants him in the side hes obviously showing something

He has had 6 years and only 50 games for a reason, because he is not and never will be good enough. The goat doesn't want him, he just couldn't get the 6 others in front of him. And my point is, I know we have gone hard for a marquee half, but maybe we need to push a little more, without selling ourselves up the river.

Its big that he is dropped. If the Dolphins beat the dragons. We may not seem him again.

Reading a little more into that round 1 selection. Katoa missing out, and the others selected. It might have been a final chance for some of those fringe players. Losing a game in round 1 but finally putting a line through those that aren't good enough might have been the question that needed answering. Whereas, Katoa is a known keeper, so the thought process might have been to give those questionables a final chance.

SOS has had a great career for someone with his limited talent but in a perfect world, Katoa will have a blinder and Kodi will go ok at 5/8 this weekend and that will spell the end of SOS's first grade career. He's tried his heart out for us and deserves that respect but he just lacks the talent. There is no shame in that.

I don't even have to search. Ben Hunt is off contract. And he is miles better then SOS, even at 150 years of age. So thats bollocks.

So is Sam Walker I think.

no i am saying at 20 if katoa dont have a kicking game now he wont by 25
Not sure I agree with that. No doubt he's spent a lot of time practicing/improving his kicking game over the off season. Lets see if it's resulted in any improvement.

Remember the likes of Ben Hunt and Thurston didn't play regular first grade until 22~23. Katoa is only 19! Give him a bit of slack. He wasn't "brilliant" last year but wasn't a disaster either.
