Another one I haven't seen mentioned. And I think he would go close to the best of all time.

Steve Rogers. He was on another planet.
I never saw Sludge play and I only saw the very tailend of Cronin when he was way past his elite days. Price was still elite in 1986 whereas Cronin wasn't his presence in the grand final was immense though.

Dave Brown and Reg Gasnier deserve mentions as well. They could be possibly be the two best. Their strike rates were incredible. Brown had a troubled life as he struggled with alcoholism and Gasnier was part of that iconic side of the 50's and 60's.

I saw footage of a game vs England when they were generally still the better team. Gasnier tore them apart in the footage I saw. Big for his time and probably even now and fast with very good footwork.
