I don't think it's that they lack discipline but it's more body type. Blokes like Milford and Taumololo mature early but are also passed their best, having slowed down a lot earlier. Not all, just some like the short, stocky one's I mentioned. Payne Haas won't have that problem because he's not that body type.
oh for sure but theres lot that just aint fit period

Snippet from Joel Gould's article today (AAP)

In other Dolphins news, the club’s quest to sign Manly halfback and former Redcliffe junior Daly Cherry-Evans for 2026 is in limbo for the time being, according to CEO Terry Reader.
“We are pretty settled with the squad we’ve got and who we have, but this is the NRL and if someone of Daly’s quality is interested in talking to us then we’d be interested in talking to him,” he said.
“He’s taking time to work out what he’s doing. If Daly decides he wants to talk to us, when he has made his mind up, then we will talk."

Now, what I want you to remember about this is the Evans loves the cash. More than any other player I have watched play the game.

This move for him is all about the cash.

So when he signs somewhere and you tell me he is going for less to win a comp, and I tell you your head is up your ass. I don’t want an argument.

I think there's 3 clubs who are after DCE and there's all different reasons he can benefit. The only "premiership window" club is Canterbury but Gus will be using his 9 media contacts and Laundy will be setting him up to own a pub without any work we know that.

Dolphins can offer coaching roles wirhin the club and will be trying to work with the QRL to see what's on offer there as DCE is a long-time QLD captain and can be offered such positions.

Roosters we all know what goes on with Nick.

One thing I do predict and it's the one ace up the Dolphins sleeve and it's how contract games work. If Dolphins sign DCE watch for them with a quick stroke of the pen give Josh Kerr a new two year deal. Kerr is managed by DCE's manager who also looks after Flegler, Herbie & a few kids in the various Norths junior rep sides.

I actually think Manly was right. They paid him over 10 million in the last 10 years. Given his age, I thought offering him less money to play was right but it seems he spat the dummy and considered it low-balling.

I think he was right too. But him flip flopping and playing them like a greedy overpaid footballer is what we need to remember here.

Signing with the GC then at the wiff of money stab them then leave.

I meam he obviously loves the cash, as most people do. The, like not many other footballs, plays contract sagas in the media like no other.

What's funny is the Roosters see him as another Cooper Cronk except the problem is the Roosters don't have a polished roster, crazy depth and only a Test halfback short of being virtually unbeatable. DCE is no where near Cleary as the best club halfback in the game and got owned by Moses in the Origin series last year & overlooked for Test selection so behind Moses as the best rep halfback. Cronk in 2017 was both the best rep and club halfback in the game.

At least with Dolphins whether we think it's a good signing or not they would see DCE as a home coming for a local junior, finally nailing that big marquee ahead of another club and can be of some benefit to Katoa.

Bulldogs are better off sticking with Toby Sexton he's the real deal and getting better each game but he's only keeping the seat warm for Mitchell Woods there.

Of the 3 clubs chasing DCE the only logical one that makes 1% of sense is Dolphins.

But as you two have posted you're both so correct.

Plus Cronk was significantly younger when he went to the Roosters. I watched the game yesterday and DCE didn't look anything close to a 1mil a year player. He looked like someone who has one more year left max for about 500k max.

It'll be funny when he doesn't deliver like what Cronk did for them.

Massive Katoa stories doing the rounds in Sydney with at least two clubs
Yes, however he recently resigned. So those clubs mentioned, are officially cheating.

Its beggars' belief how, we pretty much have a competition, where not one team follows the rules, and not one team gets sanctioned.

The game does my head in at times.

I mean Laundy admits to cheating, and gets told to sssshhhh, and still nothing happens.

He is under contract until 2028. If any Sydney clubs have approached him, they are in violation of the rules. I think it's pretty safe to say he won't be going anywhere until 2028 unless a special halfback is in the Dolphins lower grades right now and ready to go in the NRL at a young age. And if not, Dolphins will be looking to extend him before any other clubs can approach him.

It's crazy to think two clubs have already approached Katoa being Manly and Penrith. V'Landys turns a blind eye but dare Dolphins approach Mariner they get hit with a fine and breach notice.

According to who? fanciful rumours in Facebook? And Penrith? That's how you know it's merely a ridiculous rumour. Of any player Penrith are in the market for, a halfback would be their last. Cleary probably has another 8~10 years in the NRL.
