It has made RL a total momentum sport now. That is why we see huge deficits tracked down on a regular basis. High scorelines and upsets are the norm and torn hammys, MCL's and worse are befalling the players. The game is so fast currently and guys like Gilbert, Flegler and Knowles are struggling with the pace of it.I hate the 6 again rule.
Its on the run, so as a fan there is no explanation or replay to confirm it.
It impacts the game greatly in terms of flow and momentum for a relatively minor infringement. Whereas, someone hit high, game stops, replays resolve the penalty, everyone setups after a brief stopage, and we go again.
And because there is no video replay or burden of proof, the ref can influence the game rsther easily, without scrutiny. Id prefer team and quality of play defining wins rather then 6 again counts. However, we are seeing greater ref influence on results. The NRL could easily put in a call at half time suggesting viewers are turning off, even the game up, and with our setup it could easily be done without no notice.
Its a stupid rule designed for viewing rather then trusting your product and letting the players determine the play.
I don't know what the solution is. V'landy and co. will tell us that the sport is growing because of the newish rules. But, like you said, it has sacrificed the very fabric of the game as we once knew it.
