Round 7: Dolphins v Penrith Panthers

We lost but it shows we can compete with the best.
Thats the bloody issue. This is a top 8 team. With a coach getting 20 to 40 mins of footy out of them.

People will say we showed fight. I say we lost it with shit undisciplined play in the first half. Like we have done every game this year.

Aside from that 20 min burst. It wasnt good.

Up against pretty tough opposition.

Copper Cronk was making some good points in the post game show. Saying we can't be one of the best teams with such a huge gap between our best and worst.

What an incredible game. Dead and buried at HT and then put themselves into a position where they should have been victorious. They were in total control when Averillo snuck in over the line. Penrith were melting in oppressive conditions and the Dolphins were running all over them.

But, like champion teams do, Penrith found a way to claw their way back. Once they evened the score, they never looked like losing. It's a shame because the Dolphins really could have used that W. 2-4 and heading to Auckland is not an ideal situation.

Full creds to the Dolphins for their fightback. Hopefully, it leads to more consistency. But, until that happens, they'll continue to flirt with the bottom 4.

FIrst half next week I want to see us start like that second half last night.

Woolf has to be hammering the less errors and penalties line.

Leadership group need to be putting in house personal responsiblity in place.

Never said it was , the issue is we are slow at pb which gives teams time to get up off the line and shut down the attack we have plenty of pace but if we aren’t creating any space for them we look like pedestrians. We need a 9
i was agreeing with you. hence 'This'.

Bottled it. If the first half had been like the second it was 2 points by a mile. The amount of drop ball is getting concerning.

Kodis bin, i have huge issues with this, 1 it was put on report then the player left the field and then it was again signaled as report and sent for 10.

So in future you get a player to go down it gets put on report play up the issue the other player gets binned you have a break in the sheds and miraculously the magic sponge has resurrected you and you come back. no injury and get the 10 min advantage. its a crock of shit.

I honestly didn't see much wrong with the tackle. As Cooper Cronk said in the post game show, the one Gilbert did looked much worse (though still not very bad).

Yes. The mistakes are a worry.

This is down to attitude and culture.

The thing I dont understand is Bennett prudes himself on making it simple, ni mistakes and good culture. Woolf had time with him, however we seem to not have continued that mantra.

Its really frustrating watching it as a fan week in week out.

The quality of the team is let down by the errors. One week with a ref at training and commitment to a no error game. Can be that hard.

At half time it was 4-0 penalty count. And 18-0. Its not that hard. And thats not counting unforced errors.

I can take losing. I cant handle giving other teams competition points. And thats what we are doing. Discipline starts at the top.

I was encouraged by the defence in the first half. I know we were 18 down but compare that defence to the Manly game or a few other games this year and their try right on the buzzer.

I was too. However, when you invite pressure on yourself, even a good defence will crack eventually when it puts itself under pressure.

So all the hard work to improve that defence, as we saw, was let down by stupid penos and errors that havent improved.

Id suggest the first action point should be addressing attitude rather then defensive or attacking systems. Good dressrooms with good discipline will learn systems. However good defences and attack with bad attitudes and discipline will finish last. Look and the tigers and warriors of the past.

Get the discipline sorted. The rest will follow.

Again, in their defence, the 6 again calls seem so arbitrary. I know we got a few go our way in the second half but still, I really hate it. Good idea but the arbitrary nature of it is infuriating.
