Round 5: Dolphins vs Manly

The Dolphins next 8 weeks look like this:

Bye
Penrith (H) (Darwin)
NZ (A)
Melb (H)
Cant (H)
Sths (A)
Canb (A)
Bye.

No matter which way you choose to look at it, that is a tough run. Some might say that the Dolphins have a high ceiling and could win all of those. But, do they have a high ceiling? Their high powered attack has been missing this year and their defense has seemingly got even worse. Are the coaching staff clever enough to come up with a game plan to win any of these games? That's debatable.

Thankfully, the schedule gets a lot easier during the second half of the year. But, there are no easy games with this team. But, if they hit some kind of form, they could go on a real run in July and August. Preferably, they can scrape out three wins in the next six. But, count Darwin out. Penrith are on a different galaxy compared to the rest.

Very tough. Hopefully JMK back for the NZ game. How many minutes did Plath play dummy half for last night? It's just not his game. I think Woolf saw what he did with Kurt Ds dummy half play last year and thinks he can do the same with Plath. I think he can't! Give it up for gods sake because this run coming up...... we might be pretty much out of contention for at least top 4, if not top 8 by the time it's over.

His issue this year is the forwards which on paper should be smashing big holes down the middle of the pitch for fun can't get on the front foot. JMK helps but having your forwards held on their backs 4/5 tackles doesn't help.

get the fucking thing thirsty enough and it will drink they had a Shit attitude and the fact the backs decided at 70 mins this is embarrassing now and we are going to get ripped a new one then woke up and tried only makes it worse. It proves they could have all game and just couldn't be bothered.

Back in the old days Alex ferguson prior to being the Man utd coach was in charge of a scottish team and they were utter shit one day. so he got them all, in club tracksuits and made them do team run around the town beasting them on the hills for all the paying public to see.

On the commentary they said JMK had been talking to them and was 4 weeks off playing. NZ would be pushing it. Besides is it a good idea to throw him straight in after a long lay off?

yeah, I hard that. You are right that he will probably spend a week in cup first. At very best, the NZ game but probably one or even 2 weeks later.
 
like woolf said its errors and attitude all things that happen on field he can only dumb so much into them , not going change much calling them morten bay dolphins as a guy who used play for dolphins years ago said to me , name isnt important its who you play for and they play for the whole of our supporters who based all over you can bet other clubs fan bases bar the sydney clubs are big % of membership outside there own base

I'd be happy if they just played for the guy stood next to them. They couldn't even be bothered to do that. As i said before 2 dots don't make a pattern, 3 dots makes a triangle and there is trouble beneath the surface. Perhaps they believed their press and hype, perhaps they thought Many have been awful all year and didn't take it seriously maybe its worse.

Last week against Broncos the attack was woeful this week was the same. Everything seems to come from the back 5. the forwards need as my Grandfather would say 8 lace holes.

Anyway that's enough dissecting the abject failure. 2 weeks to sort out the dressing room and move on.

No sorry the defence is shot. We played like that in under 8’s. stand flat footed and wait for someone to run into you. MOVE UP IN DEFENCE

But you cannot defend for 70 mins because you keep dropping the ball early in the set. Attack gives the defence time to rest and organise. you need to be good both sides of the ball otherwise the weak side puts the pressure on the strong side.
