Round 26: Dolphins vs Sydney Roosters

Yes. I complain when the coach continually does something when from the outside looking in, makes no sense. As I read from someone else on this forum, it appears the only reason he is getting picked is because of his friendship with the coach. In my view, this is what a forum is for. Not for being a whiny bitch complaining about other posters because you don't agree with their opinion.

If you anyone doesn't agree with my opinion, good for them. I could give a rats. But don't attack me personally or I'll hit back.

Ok with you?
Well said :)

Settle down Gary. ain the big games coming up, if we are not behind with Plath and Donoghue on the bench, Knowles starting, I'll admit I was wrong.

If happens as has been all season on a regular basis, we are behind with Plath and Donoghue on the bench and end up losing by that amount or less, I hope you'll stop being a whiney bitch and admit you were wrong.
Who’s on here all the time whining about Woolf and Knowles you. Happy to catch up if you’ve got the balls to say it to my face

And you were the one saying that Bennett had turned it up and was coaching souths while still at the dolphins and the club had told him to pull his head in. Now you are bagging Woolf and his selection while we are sitting 4th you mug. You know nothing

Sure tough guy. There is something about guys pretending to be tough on the internet. Something special about them. They invariably can't punch a hole through air.

I don't need and didn't ask your permission to bag anyone I like. Alternatively, I could give a rats who you bag. And as far as I see it, you are bagging Plath and Donoghue by omission.

And BTW, I still believe both are true:
  1. Wayne started preparing for Souths while he was still on the books with us.
  2. The only reason Knowles is starting rather than Plath or Donoghue is because of his personal relationship with the coach.

lol but its ok for you to run your mouth bout players ( dont say you dont )

lol if woolf is suppose be mate of Knowles then prove it dont chicken s.t out proof not just fantasy land

Moving right along. There is the PM feature for this idiocy.

Best locks in the club:
  1. Plath (sorry Matt though I wouldn't argue with anyone who says Donga. The way he played last year and this.)
  2. Donga

this is where it gets debatable

  3. Gilbert (but he's playing really well as a prop. I think Knowles probably could as well)
  4. Stone (I have to or I'll get shouted down. But really, he doesn't have the flair of the top 2 but he also never lets anyone down.)
  5. Knowles
Why we have so many good locks is a mystery to me. Knowles is #5 but that's not supposed to be bagging him. Just praising the other 4.

With the way momentum works I think Woolf has worked out it's better to take over around the 20 minute mark and have your worst forwards on the field in the first 20, then snowball momentum the rest of the game and if you're down an average of 6 points (I know it's been worse than that) it's worth it to have your best players on the park for all/most of the final 60 minutes of the match.

Obviously in an ideal world we replace Flegler ASAP, use his money to retain other talent and find another forward to take that spot and potentially Knowles is replaced as well and one of Plath or Donoghoe can start and the other plays the 20-80min period but having both on the field is optimal and we can't have them both play 80 minutes but it may make more sense to keep things the way they are and just find other forwards who can do the job medium term and go hard in the first 20-25 and keep the bench the same as it's the best bench in the NRL.

If Donoghue is good to go we're going to give the Roosters a game and we could very well beat them. They've had 3 bad performances now in the last 5 games and aren't being scrutinised that hard over that because they've won two of them barely

I could very much see us trailing 10-0 after 20 minutes and then winning the game yet again this week.

People thought the short dropout was dumb when possession became more important until they didn't, the analytics crew saw it first and now the short dropout is the default and the long dropout is situational

There is a legitimate chance Woolf sees the opening 20 minutes when players are at their freshest and the fewest points are scored as the least key of the four 20 minute periods in the game and has correctly adjusted before other clubs have

Obviously if we could have Flegler and Knowles off the field for the entire game and have two better forwards on the park he'd be doing that but he's working with the side he has and it's going very well overall. I don't have any specific information that what I hypothesised above is accurate, but as a successful sports bettor (including but not limited to NRL) it actually makes a lot of sense that if you're going to have a bad 20 minute period and three good 20 minute periods, it is actually best the way the game is momentum snowball based now to have the 'bad' period be the first 20 minutes - i'm not a pure analytics guy, so I don't have data to back that up, but it is a logical hypothesis, I think, and it's paid dividends a lot this year with our side trailing early then being tied or taking a lead into the half, but having the momentum behind us going into half time and coming out and putting teams away with our best forwards on the park in the second half

Can't wait for this weekend, PHINS UP
I've thought of all this before and it makes sense all the way until we remember that our fittest players in the entire team are Plath and donga. It makes sense to have impact but I genuinely believe no matter what position you throw them into they could play 80 minutes and have impact the whole way. Last year we saw donga playing massive stints and chasing the game relentlessly till the final seconds. Plath we all know is a workhorse. Again we can have impact from their skill and IQ and speed, but they are a rare talent in that they are also incredibly fit. Why are we holding them back so much? This first 20 minutes is unnecessary because they aren't absolutely stuffed after 60 minutes and so they skip the first quarter. I only ever remember seeing them tired after being named at 13 and playing huge minutes in those brutal games where half our squad was out.

I rate Fineanganofo about Knowles he'll be an absolute weapon. He's out of the Capras side for this week only due to an eye injury he's single handedly carried them to third spot.

You run your mouth about Donoghoe all the time and only earlier this week on another platform about Fuller to his Great Aunty.

so you think other players family's should see that let alone club they know they have be patient there time will come

funny that you can say crap bout players ( ffs you wanted George medically retired amung other things ) imgaine his or other players family reading that crap
never once disrespected kurt ( at time i said it because lets face it very rare for test level half to be forward then go back in tests to be a half ) n lets face it if it was any one else you not met in person like you had kurt you would n let's face it I was talking about him.not bee. Wanted in halfs not in million other positions

because lets face you wanted him as our fulltime fullback even before you wanted him as a utliiaty and fact the new rules suit the style how they use him is another thing

so come back when you can speak truthy about not imaginary crap because i can name plenty more your trashed 9 but oh wait we hear every excuse under the book just like hearing knowles gets in because hes mates with woolf

but i look forward to , hearing your non bs response( remember i want hear truth )

It is worth considering playing Plath and Donoghoe 80 minutes could work in finals (although they'll be more gassed late in the game/less impact) but if they're in the middle and not second row it's an enormous workrate on their body if they're doing it every game of the season and it could easily burn through their primes prematurely

He doesn't even play insane minutes but look at how washed Mo Fotuaika has become, he has gone from a legit origin level forward about three years ago to not even really first grade level in just a few seasons and he's 26 years old. We don't want to burn these guys bodies out well before they should by forcing them to play too many minutes every week even if they're capable of it.

During a finals run maybe if they're right to go for the entire 80, but not for 26+ weeks a season

I'd suppose them playing long minutes if the coach thinks their bodies can handle it during our finals run, but we can't have our two best forwards playing 80 minutes in the middle in random mid season games plus playing rep football on top in Plath's case (and presumably Donoghoe's too eventually)

A finals switch up is one of those things I wouldn't be surprised to see with these two. Have been thinking about it for a while, and yeah they would burn themselves out. They are those kinds of players l, but we are being more than conservative, which again actually makes sense if you plan to extend them in finals. Donga last year was doing Brad Clyde work where after massive minutes he was actually ramping up and hitting and running harder and harder. It was those games where I came to love him.

Poor Mo, other thing is the titans system. I feel bad for saying it but guys like him I don't discount that it's just the club mismanaging him. Plenty of examples of such things especially around titans, or even dragons with the likes of Big Franky. Not bad players, just average clubs that can't make it work.

I can't overemphasize just how desperate I am to see Plath and donga both fit playing 80. They are good enough that people are noticing them even just off the bench, but the average fan has no idea how tough and fit they are. No holds barred game of our lives I have both playing 80 around the middle, and people would be amazed at how hard they would go.
