Dangerous to rate Kurt Donoghue in here :)
As a Dolphins fan. It’s not about rating them or not rating them. It’s about knowing where they are at as a player and where they fit in the squad.

I am comfortable with his development as a player and I look forward to him building towards being a starter. Is he there yet? No. Does he know his best position yet? No.

Happy with his resigning. But I want to see him grow from here, and cut errors out. If he can do that, and I think he can, I will be a fan.

I’m not sure what games you are watching, but he is not there yet. Just simple.

If all teams had a 30 man squad of first graders, there would be a lot of unhappy players, considering 17 players each week. There has to be fringe players in every squad, and that’s where he sits for now. Hard work and taking opportunities when the present is what he should focus on.

I've said he's far from the finished player and not the complete article. All I've said about him and been forced to defend him due to a myriad of hate he cops from one individual in particular who has developed somewhat of a cult following in here is that he will be in the 17 for Round 1 and even before the players bailing out on the team he was picked for Round 1 and was always going to be. I've also said he's the best utility option in the club and in the era of HIA and 6 agains clubs need to carry a jack of several trades on the bench.

Kodi Nikorima who was once a utility fix it player has evolved away from being that mostly as age has slowed him as it does all players of all era's. I said this and I stand by this.

Someone also said (same person) that he won't be re-signed after 2025 he must have done something right in the pre-season and off-season to earn a two year extension and a spot on the bench in the Round 1 team.

Yes we did have a chat with him in Newcastle late last year at a local leagues club and I asked him about his future. He said he wanted to sign a one year deal but the club wanted him on a two year deal hence the delay in confirmation at the time despite his management doing a social media post.

A lot of players early in their professional careers when they finally make it to NRL often begin as fill-in utility players before settling into the one position unless they're obviously one position players or they start in another position before transferring to their best spot. Hammer was a spare parts player at the Cowboys to name a classic example. Hughes and Munster took time before they evolved into being the Storm's halves.

When we see posts blaming Donoghue for the loss vs Souths and in the same post praising Tupou's performance that says something.

One thing Donoghue provides and Dolphins often lack is energy he sometimes has too much of it and that's something he will develop as he matures and settles into the day to day grind of being an NRL player.

I thought Donoghue's best performance was against Dragons last year when he came on to play 5/8 after Nikorima failed a HIA after about 15mins or so.

Newcastle are a one man team. Contain Ponga and they lose. Though easier said than done.

Hammer needs to take one more stride closer to the line and then pass or run himself. He passes too early and gives Knights backs ample time to slide across.

This is a nightmare. Unless there is a major turnaround, Woolf has to shake up the 17.

Can't stand Cronk as a commentator but I agree with him here. Dolphins are so slow around the ruck.

Next week Woolf needs to do this:
  • Averillo to 5/8
  • Hammer to centre
  • Kodi to hooker
  • JMK to the bench
  • Donoghue to fullback
  • Plath to the bench
  • Keeley retains his spot with Finefuiaki in the backrow.
