The difference in the team when JMK came on is astonishing. I hope that has FINALLY convinced the coach Plath is ok to play hooker for 20min max to give JMK a rest. Personally I'd go with Donoghue instead but coach seems insistent he wants Plath to play hooker instead. For 15~20 it's not the worst thing. Run around tackling everything then bring JMK on to run riot. But the bottom line is, Bulldogs are probably bottom 4 and Souths might well finish top 4. This will be a really good game.

Weakening other positions to cover outs in another position is a bad practice in sport management. Plath at hooker is a classic example. He is our best lock, as shown against the bulldogs, and an average 9.

This term "he can fill in" is a reciepe for failure.

It becomes even worse in prime skill positions. 9 is the most important position on the field in the modern game and you trust it to a part-timer? Madness.

Going forward, id prefer, and think its better practice to give a youngerster those 15mins off the bench to blood them. Especially considering we noe have extra bench spots allowing us to do so. Prepare for him to be missing by getting a youngster who is a 9 the minutes he needs to be up to speed.

Just heard Tood Carney talking about making a 6 into a 7. He said its too hard. The point he made, thats transferable to other position, is that under fatigue/pressure and stress, players go back to what they know and what they are good at.

Its much to the point I tried to make above with the 9 and Plath.

Galvin is suffering with it playing 7, being a running 6 by nature.

Listen to him on The Run Home. Intelligent points, and something I agree with having been involved in developing young sports people myself.

I'd rather Kurt D come on to give JMK a rest but as is, we need someone to fill in for him because he can't play for 80min. Plath isn't the worst choice IMO. His dummy half service is woeful but his defence is excellent.

corect me if i wrong but has latrell only played for bunnies once against us as in previous years we had losses against bunnies but not by huge margins , also find intresting this we only lost one magic round game and bunnies won all of theres

Id guess what I am getting at, instead of getting knowles, when we had Gilbert, Plath and K D all for the one position, could we not have got a backup hooker?

And if the young fella is your back up, why are you not using him? And why are you continuing with the same strategy that had seen us losing?

What will be interesting is if JMK misses time, do we go back to plath, that saw us struggle, rather then use the young 9 we have? I would question our selection mindset in we went back to the samething expecting different results.

JMK is a good hooker but isn't built to play a lot of games in the middle.

Still going with Plath at #9. Hope we aren't 30 points behind by the time he brings JMK on.

The only reasoning for that lineup is JMK isnt fully ready.

Or he believe JMK is better coming on fresh against slight fatigue.

With the way we have been going without JMK a young hooker couldnt be much worse.

Like you I hope we arent behind

He's just so obstinate. He's absolutely determined to turn Plath into a hooker. He thinks it's going to turn him into a master coach. I think it's going to bring about his sacking.

By "fully ready" you mean "fully fit"? If he wasn't fully fit, he wouldn't be playing.

Fit as in match fit. He might be thinking.

Coming back from injury, some players who spend time out arent capable of a full load (Hamstrings are a big risk in these situations) So they are used at reduced minutes to build them up to a full load to reduce risk of injury.

I'm just saying that's what Woolf might be thinking when doing this.

or he might just prefer Plath to start with no fatigue in the game, due to his defense.

I disagree with elements. As you know, because I am very vocal with my thoughts.

I'm just trying to bring sense to a season that doesn't make much sense at the moment. Both on and off the pitch.

Saying that, having Plath on for the opening 15min isn't the worst move in theory but it's turned out so bad in practice. The difference in the way they played when JMK came on last week convinced me. Plath shouldn't be a dummy half.

think its more the fact he doesnt want kodi to be the hooker to help izzy , if thats the case plath it has be as nothing else

Totally. I can see at what he is trying to do, whilst not winning a game while doing it. At what point do you say this isn't working?

Game Forecast - I expect Plath to do well in defense first 20 against South's, however we will be put under enormous pressure due to a lack of go forward and mounting errors as a result. South who are more potent then the Bulldogs, might be able to put 16 on us in that time. Where we will see JMK come on, and our attack throw caution to the wind being 16-0 down. Its will then result in a shootout featuring a lack of defense, and more errors on our behalf trying to push the envelope. end score 36-28 to South's losing it in the first 20 mins.

24!? That's some serious optimism. South's might finish top 4. Top 8 is almost certain.
