Recruitment and Retention for 2027

What I am saying is, at that level of earning an extra $75k a year means nothing compared to the life time memory of being a winner. You're set up well either way. And they arent earning 75k for 40 years, and they wont be investing 75k over 40 years like that, it will be the extra 500k they earn over the life time of the contract that they'll invest, which will get them half an invest property on top of the 3 they already have.

Ill give you a different example. If you had 50mil in the bank, would you break yourself for an extra 5mil (10%)? or would you trade the time breaking yourself for the extra 5mil to enjoy watching your sporting team win the comp for that time? I have deliberately exaggerated to display my point. I know we arent talking that type of cash.

I do agree with your point somewhat, they have 1 sport career, earn as much as you want. I agree. My point is, and it wasnt my point it was Bryan Fletchers, is that the money will be there, get the memories while you can. And that's my point, there is little difference between being setup with 6 mil in investments, and being setup with 5 mil in investements with a trophy on the fireplace. I'm saying the later with worth more.

You're context is coming from being setup or having nothing and having to work after your career. That is not what is happening here, or what i'm suggesting at all. And you are missing my point totally.

we are talking about people earning 850k a year giving that up for 1mil a year and not winning anything. Neither is having to work after football, unless your a gambler or doing something silly. At that level of income it means little. Ask Steve Roach. And he was on a lot less.
With the money comes the lifestyle and bimbo wanting to spend it. How many times do you hear of this ex player or that ex player spending loads on post career surgery or treatment, or as you say pissing it up the wall or up their nose.

So if he is a place holder is he cheaper and better than Kodi? If not to one or both then why bother?
Very easily argued there’s a better 5/8 currently at the club better than Williams and two better locks than Knowles. In fact can’t be argued pure facts and both one club players to date.

And you're thinking earning 150k solves that problem?

Or do you think the dope that does that, at least has the memory of a trophy to take to his money less grave. Dumb is Dumb, NFL players end up broke on 20mil a year, with all the guidance they get, and sport that they get, they still end up broke despite accepting the cash.

Again, I take the Glory.

Again, that issue isnt a 850k or 1mil issue. That's a lack of financial guidance issue/stupidity issue. And something different all together. And your point of view is ideologically coming from someone looking at it as a total career and a view of someones perspective as a career as a whole. I'm talking about someone already made it, earning contemplating earning 850k or 1mil. And the difference between the two, rather then the holistic philosophy. I agree with you holistically. Trust me. Im kind of taking about taking an extra 75k or trophies for a player that has already made it, and isnt at the start thinking my career could end tomorrow, and I reckon most sports stars would take the trophy, when they are at that level already.

As I said, 75k a year, at an earning level of 850k/1mil doesn't make a difference to wealth or lifestyle enough, And I would take the glory and lesser money.

Holistcally I agree with you, every player should ensure their future is sorted. Im talking about a Bostock getting 850k and maybe winning a trophy or accepting 1mil and unlikely to compete. And I am in no way saying Dragons will be easy beats, I think they are head the right way. And hey they could compete. And in that case id say to you, youre probably right, I could be wrong there.

I think the massive part I am failing to explain well enough, is in the Bryan Fletcher Jack Bostock interview, on The Run in Show. See if you can go and have a listen. He gives the advice to Jack on air, and I agreed with him, hence the topic and how this started. Go have a listen, youll understand my context better. Because I am clearly failing, and thats a me thing.

Unfortunately, with all of my opinions, I link media that I have read to add context. In this case I cant.

I do get your point, I understand what your saying and I agree with you to some extent.

I just think we are comparing apples with sports cars with our arguments.

Just my opinion, they arent on the same table.

You take away the clubs best lock and in turn all of Plath's middle minutes if you play Dongohoe at 6 and Plath is forced to play at lock, also he would struggle to play 80 at lock so that means Knowles is back playing lock minutes if you move Donoghoe to 6.

Donoghoe is too important at lock to play elsewhere barring Williams being absolutely awful over a decent sample. End of story. He's the third or fourth best lock in the whole comp at worst.

Plath only doing 20mins at lock allows him to do minutes at prop which we desperately need atm especially if Flegler is leaving which seems likely

We all agree Knowles is surplus to needs i'm pretty sure but by moving Donoghoe to 6 he actually is back playing lock minutes which you don't want right

Williams has been fine this WC so far, we have to at least give him a chance. If he sucks then sure, then we can consider changes but he deserves a chance before everyone saying he's shit for no real reason.

If we had two Donoghoes you could make a better case to use one of them as a 6 but we don't we have one of him.

I get your point. If the guy was 30 and had the stash in the bank and was set already its would be job done.

It depends on motivation, is he interested in adulation or cash. Bank what you can when you can, if you happen to pick up some glory great but cutting your earnings for it is only a good play if you don't need the money. Dont' forget the guy has already got a SOO win under his belt and is about to get a WC winners medal to match it.

Here you go

In the Herbie's future section.

Im not watching it twice. But Fletcher is asked to give Bostock, and indirectly Herbie advice. And he says happiness is hard to buy.

Now, also in the interview they talk about competiting for the comp, etc. And that what got me thinking. Can't remember where that was in the interview (it might have been asked after Bostock left, because Caine was sheepish about asking a further question)

I dont know if the whole show is in there. But that is the Bostock part

Yep, in this case Im talking Herbie who will be 27 in dec.

My fault, Im a talker not a typer

Interesting interview nonetheless have a listen

Its time noted at the bottom

Just a question, and I should have checked this myself.

Is Herbie actually on $850k here.

If not, erase the last 3 days. I was positive i read on here somewhere that he was on 850k with us.

Sure herbie is a different story. His glory will be premierships as he'll never get SOO (even though he is blatantly a QLD product) he'll also never get anything with England. and sure he is now coming into the peak of his career. (Also i'm pretty sure that his family are shall we say not in need of the money)
