What's new

Recruitment and Retention for 2027

That's very good news as long as we keep pouniu or lemuelu now we are set in the second row I assume we will keep pouniu and let lemuelu go if we can't afford to keep both but keeping Finefuiaki is big

Get it done Phins let's keep the backline intact and build a dynasty

Nice to get Finefuiaki and Cobbo done

Herbie, Hammer and Bostock to go then a long term extension and pay bump for Katoa, Plath and Donoghoe as well as JMK next year and we'll be in good shape - everyone else off contract pretty much is expendable if push comes to shove

That Flegler and Kaufusi money coming off contract at the end of next season is going to be very handy as well as the Safiti medical retirement cap space coming back in terms of retaining everyone - we're going to need to blood some rookies in the pack if we do let Flegler and Knowles go when the time comes and Kaufusi is retiring at the same time and Stone will be retired too but we should have the talent coming through to fit around Plath, Donoghoe, Gilbert and our second row which is presumably Finefuiaki and Pouniu after next season.

As a former Titans fan I am so used to horrible recruitment, retention and contracts it is going to be such a huge relief if we keep everyone we want to keep and shed the deals we don't want over the next few months. This is a truly special group and if we keep them together they will win at least one comp.

Herbie is the big one, whatever it takes within reason to extend him for a few years, then as long as we keep at least one of Bostock and Hammer it's okay and if we keep both it's amazing

I assume keeping Cobbo is going to help a little bit in terms of keeping Herbie, his partner on the edge and they've played together long term since the Broncos days

Yeah we have the benefit of those guys liking each other and our area, plus the team is actually good, and Terry reader must be doing something right to get where we are now.

I say it's not impossible we keep our entire back 5, as long as that doesn't compromise our middles, but if the game gets faster again then our smaller fitter blokes on the bench will get a bigger role in a game that suits them more.

Here is the other point.

Herbie to the roosters.

If they offer 1.4mil and we offer 1mil. He is going to have to move. Buying a place in Bondi compared to northern brisbane. 5mil may get him a shit box in sydney. Here, luxury.

He is not a lock to go, even for bigger money, because the costs of the change may far out weigh the benefit of the larger salary.

Im from sydney, and the quality of living in my opinion is lower the brisbane. Weather, space and cleanliness.

he wont go to chocks they struggling to keep walker on 1.5 deal so dont see them putting a 1.4 plus deal as well
