Recruitment and Retention for 2027

Haas is a freak, he's just under 120kg and can do 80 mins where needed and doesn't really drop off much at the end of it.

AFB and Collins again short stint players and with the game getting quicker those stints will get shorter unless they shed weight to help their fitness. Maybe not right now but 4-5 years time things will be pretty different.
I think the experiment with making the game even faster was deemed a failure. I wouldn't be surprised if next year it's a bit slower.

i think thats the reason why we have great bench and they recurited well for it its all bout impact these days look at the top 4 teams as well as us its whats coming of the bench that does impact gone are the days of the forwards who start doing the damage , and i think thats the way game is going n can see why woolf gets players he gets they may not be flashy but they do the ompact stuff thats needed

It's gone slower mid season and coincided with certain clubs going up and others sliding

Hammer keen to stay

Hammer keen to stay

With Jack Bostock, Selwyn Cobbo, Herbie Farnworth, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, Tom Flegler and Connelly Lemuelu off-contract at the end of 2027 alongside Hammer. I think a youngster replacing Lemuelu solves the cap issue. As much as he has been great, something has to give.

Id suggest Flegler, having sat out a year, and being looked after by the club, may agree to more years on the same salary.
Brian Pouniu, Zac Garton and Kilarney Lavender all the best options to replace Connelly Lemuelu moving forward in 2028.

Did you catch NRL 360? They were saying we won't be keeping all of:
  • Hammer
  • Herbie
  • Cobbo
  • Bostock
  • Finefeuiaki
  • Flegler
simple as that. Cap won't even go close to allowing it.

Let go of Flegler is an easy one. Nothing against him but he's on Herbie-like money but not having close to the same impact.

I'd let go of Hammer as well if we have a suitable replacement. He's very good but a better center.

Or if the rumours are true about Herbie to the Roosters, move Hammer to centre.

Actually, if we lose Herbie and Flegler, that will probably be enough. We can keep the other 4.

There's also
  • Nonu
  • Poniu
Really not sure about those 2. How much will they command on the market?

i not really to worried about cap to be brutally honest they kept them this far this years n guys like herbie n hammer wont want overs
or any of the other ones we have off contract there upgraded contracts aint going be that much all we got give them is year contract then with cap up in 2028 you can put more in on them then

as we got 8 spots left in 30 realistically i don't see any of them been to majior especially kodi jaymane jake dan going ( you looking at least 2 mil right there )

i dont see brain n lj getting to much time in 30 unless major injurys ( one that has surprised me they not put in is Rasmussen) be intresting to see how many of that 20s side stay or go

also another thing that has me wondering if herbie goes ( we would want a million dollar full back in return no way we putting fuller there n not using the money on decent back bostock not worth that and no one at other clubs is

Yeah I did. Watch it religiously.

Connelly was on the list i posted. I thought letting him go would create space.

NRL360's list included Fuller etc. Id move Fuller on myself. And a few more fringe guys.

If there is any chance we can back out of George Williams, I would. Id play Kurt there till I resgined everyone. Then I would chase a young 5/8th from aussie schoolboys or something like that.

I was a bit skeptical about nrl360. They said Roosters would sign herbie to play fullback. I dont see that. And their list was a lot longer then the big 6 you mention. They aslo suggested Flegler must stay for the same or budge due to missing a year while the club looked after him
