Former Queensland Origin star Selwyn Cobbo has rejected interest from rival NRL clubs to pledge his future to the Dolphins.
The former Broncos flyer has inked a one-year extension with the Dolphins for the 2027 season ahead of Saturday’s away trip to face the Warriors in Wellington.

Cobbo was thrown a lifeline by the Dolphins after falling out of favour at River City rivals the Broncos and was off-contract at season’s end after signing only a 12-month deal with Redcliffe.
This is of course good that he has confidence to stick with us. It means Averillo is gone along with Isaako but seems we also have to let at least one, probably 2 more go of:
  • Bostock
  • Nonu
  • Naufahu
  • Pouniu
If say Poniu is going to partner Herbie in the centres. Cobbo is one winger and Hammer is fullback. Bostock, Nonu and Naufahu are fighting for one wing spot.

with 11 spots open for 27 and 8 left of contract i think we could see all them stay unless we sign someone out of another team doubt any will go

I hope Averillo stays I rate him

Yeah, he has been good, and my opinion of him has grown this year. He versatility is a bonus as well.

I would have liked to see him used in the halves more, with Kodi at 9 during JMK's downtime.

It is but we now have Bostock, Nonu, Naufahu and Pouniu fighting for one spot in the back 5 with Hammer, Herbie, Cobbo and Averillo.
end the day they still be there if signed just be in the wider 30 it be up to the player if they want stay or not

They won't accept playing QLD Cup for a lot longer. Simple as that

lol you sure about that , what going happen whe at another club and same thing happens all well n good to think alot of themself but really when they wake up what chances the same thing happening at another club yeah a handful will get lucky rest fade away , i doubt there be one player that gets opportunity from any clubs feeder side thats in top 30 nrl side that expects a starting 17 postions straight away , let alone accepts as you say they be in the 17 of another club not going get far if you have that attitude. like trai 30 years old rather toill here in qld cup than go to dragons and you can bet got low balled , and wouldt ben anywhere near drinkwaters price as trais 30 and if he wanted to be full time starting in a nrl club he would be there even turing down wolves in surer league

Of the 4:. Bostock, Naufahu, Pouniu, Nonu.

I'm pretty sure about the first 3. How is Nonu going in QLD Cup? Last year he killed it but I haven't followed so far this year. And there is still room for 1 of the 4. Pouniu is off contract so now Averillo is re-signed, I guess Pouniu will be the first to go.

With cap space we have next season I can see most stay

The money they could command elsewhere, if we are even in the ballpark to have them play most of the year in QLD Cup would be criminal misuse of the cap.
