What's new

2026 pre-season

27 man squads with unlimited interchange and nil strategy. Anyone who gets excited or concerned over the result of a preseason match are not thinking clearly.
I agree with you.

However, trials will be important for some clubs.

For us. If we are planning on using Cobbo in a shuffle to cover JMK's injury, as a coach id be looking for combinations starting to appear and an element of cohesion in those areas towards the last trial.

So whilst i wont be over concerned. Heading into the start of the season confident is better then not.

Good games. I actually stopped watching the first where Dogs launched almighty comeback but still fell short.
Watched most of the second game. Dragons 19 year-old halfback looks like an absolute gun. Unfortunately for him, he is competing with the coaches son or a spot. Unfortunately (or fortunately) for us, we don't need a halfback. If we did, I'd definitely advise Woolf to look at that Dragons halfback.

Their youth system that gus built is obviously fucking shit
in fairness their 1-7 had 1 first grade appearance between them. the Cowboys rightly ripped through them in the first half.

This is what these games are for though isn't it so young players get a run out against more experienced guys to see how they react.

Ive never let the truth get in the way of having a dig at a scummy sporting club.

I grew up in the Greenacre/Bankstown area.

Hard area. Hard!

I have a great knowledge what their supporters are like. Trust me, Matt isnt one of them. Train rides after games, abuse. A weekend at Bankstown shops, is an eye opener. Most wearing blue and white.

It was an area of survival as a youngster. I wasnt the best of kids. But I made it out.

I dont have fond feelings towards the club or supporters. As a lot of both are rotten to the core.

All just my opinion.

Some of those Dragons young players are really serious young players. Not so much for the Dogs or Newcastle. Or in the case of Newcastle they aren't even that young. That halfback they recruited from the Roosters was given a bath by the Dragons halfback. The other one, is it Fletcher Baker (weird first name), looks elusive with ball in hand but not good enough ball playing for the halves.

I noted Kerr knocked on first hit up in the game too.

Too error prone. He is a big fella but plays under his size. I think if he can just mentally play to his size he could be a beast

Was never going to play first grade for us this year.
I hear. What you’re saying, but kerr played well for us quite a few times he changed the game . He just gave away silly penalty’s and six again

He was ok for us. NJo complaints. But he only played due to all the injuries and suspensions in the forwards. I'm thinking there is no way we have that many injuries again so no way Kerr would be playing for us.

Gilbert to prop. So the prop rotation will be Flegler, Saifiti, Molo, Gilbert? Not a bad rotation at all. 3 big props and one smaller hard working prop.
