2026 Finals

3 Farnworth
2 Donoghoe
1 Katoa/JMK
Come on! That was one of Kurts worst games. Which isn't to say he had a bad game. Just nowhere near as good as usual.

Though yeah, JMK was very good. I should modify my rating.

3. Herbie
2. JMK
1. Bostock

Donoghoe made the most metres of all the forwards he played it really tough and dug deep when the game was in danger of getting away. Only Herbie took more runs.

Bostock wasn't that good out there.

Katoa's performance was so controlled and a real halfback's performance in a big match.

And made a few mistakes and missed a few tackles going for big hits, bordering on shoulder charges if he didn't miss.

That's how he plays he chases the game and the contest when Dolphins are on the back foot and they were for 60-65mins of it.

BTW Finefeuiaki had the most run metres. Donoghue made just 5 more than Plath who didn't make any mistakes and made more tackles for fewer misses. I thought Domnoghue needed to relax a bit. Stop trying for the big plays every tackle. I think the coach told him this as well and he was much better in the second half.

Walker is apparently training again for the Roosters so some chance he could be back for the week 3 prelim likely against us if they make it after losing to Penrith if thats what happens

Looking fairly promising for the Sharks so far but still the first half as expected

The oldest forward to come to the NRL from England to make a success of it was Gareth Ellis at 27. Knowles who turns 30 this year had a lot against him and was a very high risk signing. Loved the bake Gilbert gave him the players finally had enough of working hard only for him to do something silly.

Burgess was very young, Morley was about 23 and Graham was 26.
I notice you haven't mentioned Bateman. he's worse than knowles.

Had to get up early today to go drive to watch the Wheelchair teams last season match so i've just seen the game. I can honestly say we were lucky that NZ played conservative and kicked all those goals rather than going for Trys. I think if they had scored even 1 try off 3 attempts it could have had a different impact even if the points would have been equal.

I know this is a Donga Hate Page but I always thought 135 was higher than 117.

Bateman was 25 when he joined Canberra in 2019 and had the one good season in 2019.

I went through the data earlier this year that Knowles was attempting to defy history by being successful in the NRL. Burgess brothers came over when young, Morley was a bit older than Burgess, Graham was 25-26, Whitehead 26 and Ellis at 27 been the oldest.

One NRL content Instagram page blocked me when I kept pointing out Donoghoe is a way better lock than Knowles before the season started when they all followed GC's lead leaving Donga out of their best 17's for the record not one best 1-17 had Bostock at centre. Everyone bar this page is now firmly realising Donoghoe is an elite player and now been talked about for Australian selection instead of Fiji selection. If Kevin Walters wasn't Aussie coach he be a near certain selection but Walters needs his Broncos & QLD quotas.

The highlight for me was Gilbert giving Knowles an absolute on-field bake. Any doubts about Gilbert's leadership and presence was destroyed in that one spectacular moment. James Graham done the same many moons ago to Mitch Brown in 2014.

He used to be very good but age has caught up with him. Did he have a bad game last night? I only saw bits.

I'm not even saying Knowles is bad. He's just not as good for the team starting at lock than Plath, Donoghue or Stone.

Donoghue was good but made a few mistakes. It happens when one is constantly in the thick of the action as he was. Unless we are talking about Plath and Gilbert. The Courier Mail has Fin running for 112m and Kurt 107. Plath 100. In the backs Hammer 126, about 70 of which came from one run, Bostock 115, Isaako 125 and Herbie....... 261:oops:.

The Courier Mail actually rated Herbie's game a cool 10/10.

The NRL official page is the most accurate for stats data.

Herbie was the best player on the field by a mile.

But the Donga haters need to get over it whilst Woolf is Dolphins coach one of the top couple of players in Woolf's own words will always be picked.

Yesterday was his highest run to pass ratio performance normally he has more passes than runs which shows the role he played after Flegler went down and how tough the match was until it opened up later on.

Just because one doesn't rate Donoghue as one of the best 3 on the field doesn't make one, "a Donga hater".
