well it sort of does because you might have to beat one of them twice if it's in game 1 of the finals

If we finish third and draw NZ in week 1, we will host the no Walker Roosters or a non top 4 side at Suncorp for a spot in the grand final most likely so that has to be what we're aiming for - and if our pack can match it with NZ, our 1-7 is solidly better than theirs
 
Warriors pack is scary good but their outside backs defence has been horrible two weeks in a row now if we draw them which is looking increasingly likely as the game goes on

I think Penrith will be just as keen to avoid us in week one as we are them.

So Penrith need to win by 2 for us to play the Warriors

While we'll be fighting the crowd and the refs, the way the Warriors have played the last two weeks defensively i'd much rather be playing the Warriors

Let's go Penrith by 2+ tomorrow and Phins Up
 
Now we are getting serious. I've been genially supportive of Woolf. But sorry G Gary, if he continues to start with Knowles with Plath and Donoghue on the bench and we once again go down ** early with Plath and Donoghue on the bench and end up losing by only *, I might lose it. I'm not even criticising Knowles. I rate him. He is aggressive in defence and moves up fast. There is a lot to like about his game. But clearly he isn't as good a lock as Plath or Donoghue. Ray Stone is 3rd best.
 
theres no way we will see , changes just to keep you guys happy he keep tried n true because it works woolf aint there just to keep fans happy hes there to do whats best for his team

woolf trusts the players and when he puts players on n off

we gotten this far and still he gets shit on because not keeping fans happy
 
Things we need to look at

Can we maintain our 'roll on from 20min mark' bench dominance if we start Plath at lock and Donoghoe to come on after 20 and put Knowles in the try not to use pile and Flegler in the 'as few minutes as possible' pile or do we stick with what we've been doing

On the plus side, we haven't lost a single game this year Jack Bostock has played in (neither have the Titans women with Indie) so let's keep Jack healthy and roll on and win the premiership, it cancels out the concede 50 stat lol

If we're within 6 points at the 20 minute mark we're going to win this

The regular season of 2026 is now history. I know most of us expected a breakout year in '26 if injuries were light, but I'm not sure if any of us predicted a 3rd place finish with a 17-7 record. Incredibly, they are on a 15-2 (+185) run and are easily the hottest team in the comp.

NZ are a tough opponent especially in their home confines. They've had a very strong season (despite many key injuries) and are covered in most areas. But, if the Dolphins bring their A game (eg. Roosters, 2 weeks ago), then I have little doubt that they'll earn a two week break upon Auckland departures. If they are any chance of a premiership, then this game is a must win. A loss will see them facing the winner of Sths/Newc. For obvious reasons, either of these teams are dangerous to face when your season is on the line.

Just a few footnotes concerning season '26. Jamayne Issako won the points race by 80. Included in that is a club high 21 tries. He will be missed more than most fans think. He has been a very unexpected revelation for this club. Herbie led the league in Tackle Breaks and Offloads as he heads to another Dally M award. The Dolphins led the comp in metres gained averaging a whopping 1823 per game. Surprisingly, they failed to reach the 50 point plateau even once this year. They eclipsed that mark four times last year. Averaged 27 ppg while conceding 21 in season '26. It's been a terrific campaign and the best may still be coming.

So whats the plan? hope to beat NZ and get the roosters? or lose to NZ and have to do the bunnies (we have a fucking awful record against newcastle) and then end up against the panthers?

Either i'm not really liking the route to the final
 
Yep. Beat the Warriors. Enjoy two weeks off. Home Prelim v Roosters (or whoever). That's our best shot. A win on Saturday is extremely vital.

I'm betting we beat the Warriors and play the Roosters in the preliminary final. Souths are a bit of a darkhorse. Glad we will avoid them after they knock out Newcastle on Friday.
