    Why The Dolphins?

You have a good memory. I remember that game I think in 2023. They were without Ponga and we were dominating but bombed literally about 5 tries and lost by 1 or 2 points. It turned out to be vital in the context of making, or in the end, not making the finals.

    Why The Dolphins?

I guess you might call Herbie a marquee, as you saw how much worse we were without him, but a marquee player in the spine and one of Ponga's ability is on another level. I'm surprised the people above Flanagan at St. George haven't stepped in to demand his son is dropped. You can't expect...

    Why The Dolphins?

They had an injury toll even worse than us last year. Including Ponga out for most of the season. Take arguably the ebst player in the game out of any team and it will struggle. I'm not saying I think they will be good. I don't think they will make the 8. But I doubt they will be close to the spoon.

    Why The Dolphins?

They will field 17 players but an 18th man in every game. You mean one very good player, possibly the best in the game and another who is overrated but still very good plus 15 others. Unless the 15 others can hardly catch a ball, I think they won't be bad. They have Bradman Best and Tyson...

    Why The Dolphins?

Knights have Ponga on and Brown. True Brown has so far been massively overrated and massively overpaid but he's still a handy player. Parra were offering to pay him 900k a season.

    Promising Juniors

Though the population is less than SE QLD. But still, you'd think they have more than enough talent to fill out one NRL squad.

    Why The Dolphins?

It's kind of funny the farce going on there. Kyle Flanagan wouldn't make the reserve grade team if his dad wasn't head coach. But I think good ol GC might collect the spoon. They have 3 high quality fullbacks and zero quality halves.

    Why The Dolphins?

If Ponga stays fit, they'll probably make the 8. Or 50-50 chance. He was injured for so much of last season people have forgotten how good he is.

    Why The Dolphins?

Would you please stop calling him that? He made clear he doesn't like it. It's like grade 4 or 5 calling each other names. And @mr_c, you don't rate Donoghue? Fair enough. Lets wait and see if he can put 2 good seasons in a row together. But @257Matt gets pissed by you constantly downplaying...

    Recruitment and retention

Too bad this. I really wanted to him an entire off season and then at least the trials as a 5/8 but I'm sure Woolf knows his game better than me. DOLPHINS STAR LINKED WITH IMMEDIATE EXIT Dolphins star Jake Averillo has reportedly been linked with an immediate switch to the English Super League...

    Why The Dolphins?

I live in the area. Previously supported GC. Was also happy to jump ship. For the life of me, I can't understand why GC have been so bad for so long.

    Recruitment and retention

I haven't met anyone who understands what the purpose of recruiting Williams was. He was a very good playmaking halfback 5 years ago but given we already have exactly the kind of halfback Williams was..... All I can say is that I'm looking forward to seeing what Woolf has in mind.

    Best 17 in 2026

Dolphins are my team, 110% but I still have a soft spot for the Titans. Since he stopped continuously telling us how good the Bulldogs are, don't you think Matt has some good insights? I don't have time to follow what's going on in QLD Cup at all. So I greatly appreciate Matt telling us what's...

    Recruitment and retention

I agree but he's not that young anymore. Is he 24 next season? Time to step up and make a name for himself or fade out.

    Recruitment and retention

When the injuries became too much, Oryn seemed to throw in the towel a bit. Didn't want to step up and be a forward leader. Lacked the confidence perhaps. It was disappointing but perhaps understandable. We need him at 100% next year. Running around with Tom Gilbert tackling everything that...

    2026 Squad

Gus didn't set up anything. Ivan Cleary is a master coach. I get how they can doubt Gilbert getting through a lot of games but no reason to think Flegler won't play a lot of games. But after some of the defensive displays last season, I can understand them not really rating us.

    2026 Squad

Manly are in a transition period. Jake and Tom Trbojevic are shadows of the players they were a few years ago. I'm baffled how they have the Sharks in second place! Why? Penrith will continue to slide. A few of their big guns are slipping. Yeo, Martin and Edwards. But I think still make the...
