    2024 squad and best 17

Yes for Niko being in the 17 but who do you think will be the starting backrowers if these two are on the bench?

    2024 squad and best 17

Fox Sport Predicted Round 1 team DOLPHINS Ins: Herbie Farnworth (Broncos), Tom Flegler (Broncos), Jake Averillo (Bulldogs) Outs: Brenko Lee (released), Herman Ese’ese (Hull FC) Unavailable: None Analysis: The foundation Dolphins surprised everyone in their maiden NRL season and they in...

    Recruitment and retention

Dogs didn't want him despite their well-published problems in the forwards? Maybe not too bad. Didn't want Averillo either. I still can't quite work that one out. Don't expect Averillo to be the next Billy Slater but from what I saw of the Dogs, he was one of if not their best.

  6. Equaliser

    2024 squad and best 17

I pretty much agree with this. https://www.theroar.com.au/2024/01/08/nrl-round-1-predicted-teams-the-dolphins-now-have-depth-but-now-they-have-to-deal-with-expectation/ But I think Aitken might get a spot on the bench at the expense of Nicholls. Halves are of course the big question. Perhaps...

True. Did is form hit an iceberg and sink?
  8. Equaliser

    Recruitment and retention

Bateman was an absolute gun last time he was seen in the NRL. Didn't he win second rower of the year?
  9. Equaliser

    Bulldogs the new Roosters?

Interesting coincidence. Personally I wouldn't be better 5c the Bulldogs will get anywhere near the GF. I'd say reaching the finals is the absolutely best they can hope for. But still unlikely.
  10. Equaliser

    2024 team

I think Wayne will start with SoS 7 and Katoa 6 as well. I just hope he doesn't. I think halfback is Katoa's best position by far and he should be picked there to start the season. But not Katoa 7 and Niko 6. Niko's suited to an interchange utility. I hope Milf has a massive off season, finally...
  11. Equaliser

    2024 team

SoS will probably see a significant amount of first grade this year. I hope he proves @mr_c right. But I'm a fan of Katoa playing halfback. He might need a bit of a rest throughout the season. Having 120kg blokes run at you over and over while leading a team around must be so hard for a 19 year-old.

Clubs fastest, fittest and strongest players DOLPHINS 1.2km time trial Max Plath (4:11) Tom Gilbert (4:12) Kurt Donoghoe Tommy Gilbert is relentless. If he stays healthy I think he will take his game to new levels in 2024. Bench Cooper Jenkins (150kgs) Josh Kerr Tesi Niu Tuki Simpkins Who...

If they've agreed to terms, why hasn't he just signed?
  15. Equaliser

    Recruitment and retention

I think he was signed as a place holder until Katoa is ready for NRL every week. Tough for an 18 year-old. Maybe next year it'll be tough as well. From 2025 I don't think there is any chance SOS will keep Katoa out of his best position (halfback) or out of the starting 13.
  16. Equaliser

    Recruitment and retention

I rate his as a 5/8 but for well over 1 mil a year? Seems steep to me. But then again, the best halves are on that kind of money now.
  17. Equaliser

    Recruitment and retention

Good question. But I think both he and Katoa are halfbacks. We need a 5/8. Agree about Niko, filling in all over the place last season. IMO that's what he's suited to.
  18. Equaliser

    Recruitment and retention

I rate Niko. As a utility, not a 5/8 unless only filling in for an unavailable 5/8.
  19. Equaliser

    Recruitment and retention

There goes Dearden and Luai. So Wayne or Wolff will have to get a good 5/8 from within or one who hasn't played first grade yet.
  20. Equaliser

    2024 team

That's true. Though hopefully they can beat some front line tacklers to make their own breaks.
