Dont know much about origin eligibility. However, I'm assuming he is a Qld. With B Hunt getting older, that 14 jersey is looking more up for grabs. Plath could be ripe to snatch it if he starts well.
Plath is probably third in line for that jumper as Hunt and Deardon above him. Hunt will thrive at the Bulldogs.

Deardon will be 6. Mam will be in rehab, Munster will be injured.

Hunt will be phased, he is getting on.

Plath will be in the Hunt.

BHAHAHAHA
I don't even count Mam.

If Munster is available they will find a spot for Deardon.

I don't think Slater will make the same Ponga Walsh mistake he just has to back Ponga.

I think Hunt's rep career is over. Deardon can't play in the forwards.
Depends what agreement Gus and Hunt come up with as well in his new Bulldogs deal. Hunt is making so much noise about wanting to play halfback and win a premiership and this is where Gus might say 100% club footy.

Deardon is getting to the stage he's too good to leave out of a 17.

I rate Plath and I believe he's very close to Origin selection. I can only see him playing Origin is if one of Deardon or Munster are injured and if Gus pulls the pin on Hunt's rep career. I don't think Slater will make the Hunt call just yet.

I doubt he will land at the Bulldogs. They have salary cap issues having to pay overs for multiple players to be willing to go there.

But I think whichever club he goes to will demand he not play rep football and have doubts he's be selected anyway.

Bulldogs didn't use 700k of the cap last year and spent a lot of money paying off players to leave. They don't have those issues.

Had to pay overs to get several players to go there. Crighton, JAC, Kikau, Mahony, Burton. Still paying that young 5/8 or lock from the Broncos who had an issue with his neck. Have to upgrade any young players who are playing well. I think they have very little salary cap room to move in.

Gus was on a podcast recently explaining they played 700k under and spent another fair chunk paying players to leave the club. Their cap is in good order and why they were allowed to get Hunt. The lure of winning a premiership has favoured them over the other clubs.

Dolphins will smash Bulldogs. Far better team. Crighton is very good but centre is arguably the least influential position.

We were never really interested in Hunt, thank god.

Mentally weak player, vastly over paid and rated. And doesnt even want to play his best position at club level.

Too much hard work, with his wife being his only backbone. Happy for another club to over pay for him.

Don't speak too soon. Latest is that it's between us and Broncos.

I don't think Hunt is the slightest bit interested in the Dolphins and I believe the Dolphins are taking each way bets on this in that if he comes it's very good if he doesn't the NRL have to value him at a different cap rate. The Roosters and Bulldogs both only had 500k and 550k available in the cap and both can't offer him what the NRL will value him at. Be interesting to see how the NRL navigates this with the Broncos as they can't offer him 700k. They will have to flick players to fit in Hunt.

Had Hunt signed with Dolphins it probably would have meant O'Sullivan or Graham would have been moved on a year earlier than what they will be.

Dogs would have to move on a couple of players or do the 'back ended contracts' that got them in so much trouble a few years ago. But yeah, with all those big money imports and Hunt as well, they might be a serious top 4 team.

Don't know where he'd play for the Broncos unless Mam is going to be suspended for the season.

Dolphins have the money and a position open for Hunt.

Having said that, he's always been overrated. Good to get him but if not, not a major disappointment.

Hunt would be a great running 5/8th for us with Izzy being a decent playmaker but not for $1m . A decent number 6 would be a great signing but hunt a little too old for me.. Hunt says he’s looking for a premiership winning team but surely he wants a million dollar contract with that too which would be a waste of our cap $ imo. Gilbert is the obvious choice for captaincy next year, the huddle around him in the final game with knights sort of made that obvious to me and I like him at captain too, although he’s young he has leadership quality. I reckon he’ll be at second row next year with Plath at lock then Plath rotates to hooker when jmk goes out with stone coming in off the bench for lock.

I agree with about Hunt. I think hom with the running game and Katoa playmaking would be a very good combo but Hunt is a bit old and a bit overrated.

So I hope Dolphins sign him but if not, whatever.

Sounds like a plan with Gilbert and Plath too though if Plath is playing lock, he and JMK might need a rest at the same time. I think JMK hooker, Plath bench. Plath comes on at hooker while JMK rests then Plath moves to lock when JMK comes back.

Gilbert or Herbie for C. Two Dolphin race. Herbie will stay on the entire 80min so that's something going for him.

I think Plath will be 13 and play virtually no dummy half.

I think Donoghue will win the bench spot unless Averillo gets 5/8 and Nikorima bench. Donoghue covers more positions making him an ideal bench player and will cover for JMK who only needs 10mins a game off.
