That series is precisely what I was referencing. How it opened my eyes to the chaos of the game before professionalism I could hardly believe. Yet again glad our admin has been smooth.

Promising article today it seems like both Herbie and Hammer want to stay at the Dolphins
If we can get them and Bostock all done before Nov 1 it's basically perfect as far as retention and recruitment goes for this year then the remainder are optional until next year with Katoa/Plath/Donoghoe/JMK if he's still playing at the same level he is now

From a money stand point it makes no sense to move from brisbane. It costs you much more thrn 300k extra to leave brisbane. Let alone adding stamp duty and taxes.

Then lifestyle and weather.

The only club is the Broncos. Woolf was approached to takeover from madge hence the resigning. No point going there. Dolphins is the place to be in brissy.

Again. Theyll all stay.

Hmmmm they all "want to stay" but not putting pen to paper. Every successful team has to shed players. I think we are going to lose one of Hammer, Herbie or Jack.

i would highly doubt it , for the 1 reason most clubs wont afford them n we would want something of that value back

case in point if herbie does go they wont be getting walker to stay n the new clubs wont over pay him n doubt ant current clubs have room for that sort of money they will do the dealings once rep season over
( including bears who after latrell )

I tend to agree Flegler's the one that is surplus to needs and we need that cap space

and yeah of the biggest four off contract next year Katoa needs an upgrade but has already basically said he's staying then we absolutely need to upgrade and prioritise Plath and Donoghoe as our two best middles and while JMK is amazing he'll be approaching the end of his prime so either 1-2 year extensions or if we need someone to make way it might be him especially if we have another 9 good to go (i'm not sure how Jordan Plath is developing as I haven't watched a ton of QCup this year but if it's going well getting him into first grade presumably also means it's easier to keep Max)

I think if Liverbird is right and we lose Flegler, JMK and Knowles (plus Kaufusi to retire when his deal expires) plus the players we're already let go and retain everyone else we should have enough cap space to do that if we don't sign anyone else other than cheapish middle forwards for depth if we need them and otherwise promote our up and comers to the top 30 for depth players

We could also afford to lose Lemuelu if need be as much as i'd like to keep him as long as we have Pouniu extended beforehand, or vice versa if Lemuelu stays although I assume Pouniu will be the one we prioritise keeping

If we have a 1-7 that looks like Hammer, Naufahu, Bostock, Herbie, Cobbo, Williams, Katoa, then keep Plath and Donoghoe (and Molo is already signed) plus Finefuiaki and one of Pouniu or Lemuelu, we can fill in the gaps around that fairly easily with the existing players we have being developed and the other players we manage to keep that are already on the roster
 
in all honesty if we looking to ofload tom f we would still need a semi experinced prop as prop as
Elijah hasnt had first grade and rest are injury prone ( which could come bite us in ass as a mid range prop would still be 650-750k

4 of the Dolphins 5 most valuable players are off contract end of 2028.

Katoa isn't anywhere near the prime of his career, Plath and Donoghoe probably hit their prime next year and JMK will be winding down.

I think JMK has at least 2 or 3 good years after this one.

Gould cut JMK with a year to go on his contract to sign Reed Mahoney.

JMK won Bulldogs Player of the Year in 2022 despite being told before Round 1 that his services beyond 2022 won't be required.

Sad end to a good season

The window is wide open for next year if we can fix a couple things up front and I am cautiously optimistic about Williams being an upgrade from Nikorima

Time for a big few weeks. Let's get Herbie Hammer and Bostock resigned.

You have to play for 10 years to break even at that rate.

As i said. Financially, its not exactly the move you expect.

I Knew someone that played for the Roosters. I wont say who. you would have to do some extras to make it worth it. And im sure the Roosters have the know how there.

So if they do get him, im sure they will be looking after him and whats reported will be well off the mark.
