What a game, so proud of them.

3. Gilbert (just keeps going)
2. Nikorima (setup heaps in the halves and filled in well at centre providing heaps of value)
3. JMK (close to best hooker in the comp right now)

Apart from JMK missing those 2 games, am I missing something in that he only has 6 Dally M points so far? I feel he has been at least top 3 on ground in all of our wins. By comparison our top players are Hammer (14) and Tom Gilbert (13) Dally M points, trailing Haas on 23 points and then Cleary (21) and Grant (20).

Considering we have won as many games as Melbourne, I just don't understand how Grant can be over 3 x as many points as JMK? Or am I just overvaluing his contributions?

I think being suspended rules one out of Dally M contention. Though not 100% sure of that.

I'm almost tempted to give Aitken a point for his first half. He gave the more highly fancied Ramien an absolute bath! Almost but not quite.
3. JMK
2. Gilbert
1. Niko

On a separate note, did anyone else notice our team yesterday were all maori/islanders/indigenous players except for Gilbert, Wallace and Aitken? I wonder if that is some kind of record for the NRL? It's great to see we have such a multicultural team here who are all proud of their heritage, as demonstrated by the haka Te Whare and a few of the other guys did after the match. Good stuff!

Ah yep I see now they are deducted 3 points for every week suspended - so he should have been on 12. Shame.
Is that all? Under the new scoring system, I think they have a total number of points to hand out. Not just 3-2-1. I think they have 12 points total and can give those points out however they choose. So in theory, one player can get all 12 points from one game. It would never happen in practice.

Maybe the biggest problem for him would be how every week it's a team effort. No one really stands out.

Wow - upon further reading, I believe he is ineligible after being suspended for 2 games.

"Any Player who is suspended under the NRL Judiciary Code of Procedure is deducted three (3) Dally M Medal points for each week of suspension.

Any player who is suspended from two (2) or more matches in any one season immediately becomes ineligible for the Dally M Awards."

That is some A-grade BS, especially considering the trigger happy judiciary and confusion around certain tackles and high contact we've seen this year. If it keeps going like this, a lot of players will become ineligible, including Haas who is currently top but has 1 week of suspension.

One thing we can say with absolute certainty; the judiciary hasn't done the new team any favours at all!

I didn't.
I didn't either until a kiwi mate pointed it out. There is a large Pacific Island/Maori population here in broader Redcliffe now, especially with young families. Just another reason the team should be called Redcliffe to connect with the community it represents.

It should probably extend to Morten Bay. To capture a larger market.

It’s all about reach

My ratings out of 10. 10 being highest.
  1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 7 (A bit below his best.)
  2. Jamayne Isaako 8 (A customary bad dropped ball but made plenty of metres with strong carries)
  3. Euan Aitken 8 (Best on field by some distance in the first half. Didn't come back on due to injury.)
  4. Valynce Te Whare 7 (Obviously a better choice than Brenko Lee but needs to work on his fitness.)
  5. Tesi Niu 8 (Same as #2)
  6. Kodi Nikorima 8 (At this rate, it'll be hard for Wayne to replace him with Milf.)
  7. Isaiya Katoa 7 (Managed the team well. Milf's took over long kicking in the second half and did it better.)
  8. Poasa Faamausili 7 (Surprisingly good.)
  9. Jeremy Marshall-King 8 (Must have gone close to being MoM again.)
  10. Kenny Bromwich 7 (Perhaps a touch outplayed by the other prop.)
  11. Felise Kaufusi 8 (If not MoM, just behind JMK.)
  12. Connelly Lemuelu 7 (Good try. Haven't checked stats but I think he was less involved than Kafusi.)
  13. Tom Gilbert 8 (Mr Consistent just keeps on keeping on.)

  14. Jarrod Wallace 7 (Continuing his late career renaissance.)
  15. Anthony Milford 7 (As above. Did he lose a bit of weight while he was away?)
  16. Mason Teague 6 (Did nothing wrong or anything particularly good.)
  17. Herman Ese’ese 7 (As for #14)

I reckon you have got those about right - it was a good all round team effort. I really hope Nikorima stays as starting half and not Milf too. Everyone who has come into the side with the exception of a few backs has performed exceptionally. I think we have more depth than originally thought, particularly in the halves now with Milf doing well but not cementing a starting spot.

I think it's about right as well but I'd give out two or three 9s. Maybe JMK, Kafusi and Gilbert.

  11. Felise Kaufusi 8
  12. Connelly Lemuelu 8 (Thought he was as good as the other forwards.)
  13. Tom Gilbert 8

  14. Jarrod Wallace 8 (Made lot of metres, a few good offloads, no mistakes. Definitely deserves an 8 at least IMO )
  15. Anthony Milford 7
  16. Mason Teague 5 (How long was he on for? Because I remember seeing him once but thats it.)
