What's new

Off Topic - Other Clubs

If or when Roosters get it right, they are up with us as a dark house along with heavyweights, Penrith and Warriors. Too soon to tell how the Warriors will do without Boyd who was on fire but I'm going out and saying the premiership winner will be out of us, Roosters, Warriors and Penrith.

What is going on with the Broncos!? I know they are missing Haas and Walsh but Souths are missing Murray and Mitchell.

Madge for mine is the new Gould. Opportunistic with his coaching jobs. Came in on the back of Kevvie nearly getting the broncos there to steal a coaching premeirship. Tiger town shows you all you need to know about his man management and coaching prowess.

Complete and utter hoax.

Bennett is the bench mark for coaching. Madge is so far from that he is on Pluto.

Has happened with all the coaches. Yes madge won premiership. But like bulldogs west sea eagles eels so poorly run off field it aint funny. Tallis got black balled by tve club. Funny enough. Guy from the era of tallis I race a horse with said few things that make broncos behind the scenes a joke

Have to say Ivan Cleary is the benchmark. Then Bellamy then Bennett. Those 3 are way ahead right now but Webster at the Warriors looks like the real deal. Too soon to say for Foran. As for Woolf, he's good but not among the best.

Bellamy will always be tainted for mine, His premierships were won with a financially doped up/cheated squad. My grandmother could have won premierships with a club cheating as much as they were. Realistically no other club could compete with they talent they cheated into their squad. Cleary is up there.

Cleary benefited from the pathways that were in place, Bennett has done it with different clubs . Tim sheens changed the game along with Roy masters Warren Ryan phil Gould as well won comps at different clubs there’s plenty of coaches up there Bob Fulton Jack Gibson , regardless of the salary cap Bellamy brought through GI , Cronk slater smith nobody else wanted them he developed them and turned them into superstars . Home grown talent should have got a dispensation and cap relief

That's true in regard to Bellamy.

Cleary got the Warriors into the GF when no one expected it. i'd go:
  1. Cleary
  2. Bellamy and Bennett

So did Daniel Anderson lots of coaches get teams to grand finals Brian Smith classic example, Cleary has had a fantastic set of players to do it with. Through a great junior set up . Bellamy shouldn’t be tainted due to the cap rorting he has turned average players into good players due to his system he has in place. He is a great coach

I do think Bellamy is a great coach, that's why he is second, with Cleary. Bennett first by the length of the straight. Is he an immortal like Bennett? No, cant have someone with striped titles in that select group for mine.

We must not forget Jack Gibson either. Easily forgotten due to time. Norm Provan was captain coach as well during a successful era winning 4 premierships at a 68% winning record, which is exactly the same as Bellamy.

Norm is an immortal already, and rightly so, but many forget he coached as well.

I'm lucky enough to have a Provan signed Big League mag somewhere. He was a mate of a client of mine. My client surprised me one day with it. Was lovely of him, I was doing a good job for him as well.

We can forget these guys when having conversations about coaches. Provan, whilst having a record exactly the same as Bellamy, he also won lots as a player, and he was player/coach for a lot of it too. Not to mention the job he would have had to work.

Outstanding achievement.

From accounts and records and context I have to rate Warren Ryan in the top 3. He consistently went to bed teams and brought them up to a level most couldn't Imagine, and when he left they collapsed again. A lot of players say he was the biggest arsehole as well but that they had never had a better coach ever.
