One thing Woolf and Bennett have done is set up a very stable system in regard to player movements. Over the last 12 months, we have let go of 12 players and imported one from ESL, a Broncos reject and a pair of depth QLD Cup players. One of whom has next to no chance of playing in the NRL.

With the injuries to Bostock and Plath I think this might be the starting 13 for the first trial. To pick reserves is meaningless because they have about 10 or more reserves for most trials.
  1. Hammer
  2. Naufahu
  3. Cobbo
  4. Herbie
  5. Isaako
  6. Kodi
  7. Katoa
  8. Molo
  9. JMK
  10. Saifiti
  11. Lemuelu
  12. Finefeuiaki
  13. Knowles
Flegler and Gilbert to be brought on from the bench. Donoghue is a known quantity. Woolf will want to see how Knowles fares in Aus.

Maybe in a trial Averillo will play wing but I very much doubt it. He won't play wing in the regular season unless at least 2 are injured long-term.

Isn't the first trial against the Capras? They won't pick any regulars in that squad. If you meant the first game of the preseason challenge, then you've picked a good lineup.

So who then, as they will need guys that are wing replacements for injury replacement

Sorry, I meant the first trial in the "Pre-Season Challenge".

Happy New Year! I think this year is going to be huge for us. Top 4 and right in contention for the premiership.
Couldn't agree more.

I think that means its a big year for Woolf. With expectations high, if we fall short what happens?

I guess it depends on the circumstances. If it's another injury plagued year where it's impossible to name the same 17 every week, then that is a valid excuse. But, if they keep their key players on the paddock, they will give it a real shot. They arguably have the best roster in the comp. If they have a clean injury slate and they struggle, then questions will be asked. Only time will tell.

Surely this is the year we have a bit of luck with long-term injuries.

Happy New Year Red and to all forum members. Phins up looking forward to a great season

If there is another injury crisis this year, need to start looking at how training and conditioning is done. Surely 3 years in a row would point to something other than just bad luck.

Agreed, and that's added to the reasons for me saying its the year of the Woolf. If we are getting injuries left right and center, it must be the training.

So i think it stands to reason, top 8 is a minimum this year.

Only 3 weeks away from the first pre-season game. Going to be a huge season! Looks like 29 places have been filled so I guess no new signings until the year has started.

Dare we speculate on a lineup for that trial?
