Maybe I was right again when I said as part of my season preview the aging players will be relegated before seasons end. I thought Woolf would be tough and make the big calls I don't think he's got the mettle to do this. Life is easy as Bennett's assistant or coaching in Super League as has been exposed. There's no GM of Football and no Recruitment Manager to assist Woolf has gone the Walters approach when he sacked Ikin & co and is heading on a much faster slide than Walters.

The line speed isn't there, the energy isn't there, the desperation isn't there and the basic concentrations aren't there. This can be achieved by unbreakable fitness levels.
Ikin quit and Woolf didn't sign any of the contracts.

Kurt isn't to blame. He's being picked out of position.
Donoghue is one of the very few players who shows passion and energy. He's brought onto the field after the damage has been done.

Time to remove those who are looking for the last pay cheque and just invest in players who have a bit of passion they'll get better results and be longer term benefits.

They should never have got rid of Hubner another of my favourites.

For the record Fuller is actually my favourite player followed by JMK, Plath, Herbie, Katoa, Nonu and after that Donoghue.

Clarkey is normally a troll and hates the Dolphins. He posted up something about Dolphins should move Herbie to fullback? What's peoples opinions on this? I don't think Woolf has the mettle to make big changes and is stuck in his own delusion about the performances & application.

Hammer isn't a fullback and now getting exposed as not being one. The other teams have worked this out.

Averillo is now untenable as a centre his defensive misreads are becoming too much.

If Fuller was available only one person would be calling for Hammer to be fullback.

He's been rubbish. One of the worst. But is being picked to play out of position.

Dolphins team:

  1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow
  2. Jamayne Isaako
  3. Jake Averillo
  4. Herbie Farnworth
  5. Jack Bostock
  6. Kodi Nikorima
  7. Isaiya Katoa
  8. Daniel Saifiti
  9. Jeremy Marshall-King
  10. Felise Kaufusi
  11. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki
  12. Connelly Lemuelu
  13. Max Plath

  14. Kurt Donoghoe
  15. Mark Nicholls
  16. Ray Stone
  17. Kenny Bromwich

  18. Sean O’Sullivan

Only the forced change of Gilbert out, Lemuelu back, Plath in his best position. This team is better but while loyalty is good but this is starting look like just stubborn. I thought he might have made a few more changes.

Coaches and Clubs are like Politicians they see things long after the public sees them because they're so inside those four walls where they have no one who questions them and surrounded by yes people who are in fear of losing their jobs if they go against the boss. Those in the media bubble take time to see it as well.

Bellamy is a very rare exception that doesn't surround himself in the bubble and he troubleshoots very quickly this is why Melbourne adapt so quickly to any on the run changes by V'Landys and they always remain Top 4 every year. Gould is another who sees things very quickly and will act swiftly even he blocks those who challenge him on Twitter and only talks to 9 journos that's his outside view, on the inside Gus is two steps ahead and isn't scared to cut players whilst on contract who don't aim up at training or on the field he has zero tolerance and no fear. The other coach who has been a step ahead has been Cleary but this year is his challenge as Penrith look very tired, jaded and out of ideas and Talagi has been a flop signing so far.

What I like about Bellamy's coaching is that he has no hesitation at all dropping a big name for a young player no one has heard of.

Bellamy trouble shoots very quickly and like you said will make changes if a player isn't performing and adapts his coaching around the players he has. Storm play different with Harry Grant than what they did with Cameron Smith. This is where I see a weakness in Woolf is that he wants to play a particular style and it's not really suiting players like Hammer and Katoa. There was one article written during the week Katoa needs a different mentor even though Woolf has backed him more than anyone and largely it's based on not being coached for Katoa's style.

On the form situation players like Nicholls, Kaufusi, Bromwich, Averillo and Isaako aren't seeing NRL this weekend, Nikorima getting wasy easily spotted in defence is relegated as well, and Plath doesn't get moved out of the spot he won the club's player of the year. It's too easy to scapegoat the 17th player on the bench because coaches don't want to make tough decisions and fans won't call for tough decisions so it's easy to attack the bogan within the side.

The decline of Averillo saddens me I really liked him and felt he was hard done by elsewhere. He came all through the pathways at 5/8 and played his best NRL games at fullback but got shafted sideways for Hayze Perham. Averillo can't defend at centre he's all at sea and no one has been able to fix that.

Wayne this week made the call to keep Jye Gray in the team he's too good for NSW Cup.

Coaching isn't easy but the strength to coaching is putting your preferred style away if it's different to the strengths of the players within your ranks.
