A three year deal from 2024. In my opinion one of if not our best signing yet.

Huge signing. Can we get him this year?
Just don't see the Broncos letting him go, especially so close to season start.

Not even sure we'd have anyone the Broncos would potentially want a swap deal with either. But you never know.

Over on the Broncos forum lots of them are:
  1. Saying bad things about the Dolphins,🙄.
  2. Saying they should let him go immediately.
As for #1, care factor: Zero
As for #2, I agree.

I don't think they will either. But would be good if they did.

“We respect Herbie’s decision on his future and his upfront approach,” Walters said. “He told us he would let us know before Round 1 and he was true to that. “That’s all out of the way now and we can move forward without that as a distraction, and we know that Herbie will give everything he’s got for his teammates and for the Broncos jersey over the 2023 season.

Unfortunately it seems he won't be coming this year.

Herbie Farnworth’s Red Hill return gets tongues wagging

Fresh Dolphins recruit Herbie Farnworth created quite a stir this week when he turned up to training with his former club

Herbie Farnworth had tongues wagging when he turned up to the Broncos during the week, but his new employer, the Dolphins, aren’t too bothered. Farnworth officially became a Dolphin on November 1, so eyebrows were raised when TV cameras captured him running with his former Broncos teammates at Brisbane’s return to pre-season on Thursday.

But the Dolphins have defended Farnworth, saying he wasn’t formally training at Red Hill, instead having a light run on an adjacent field with Broncos hooker Billy Walters, who remains on holidays. Farnworth doesn’t officially report for Dolphins training until Monday, December 11.

“I don’t think any club would have an issue with a player making sure he is fit for when he starts training with a new club,” Dolphins boss Terry Reader. “It demonstrates what a great professional we are bringing to the Dolphins. The fact is Herbie lives around the corner from the Broncos and if he wants to do some informal fitness with his old teammates who haven’t started pre-season yet, that is just fine with us.”

Player ready to take next step

Herbie Farnworth (Dolphins)

Age: 24

Games: 79

Wayne Bennett will give the Englishman a licence to thrill at the Dolphins and that’s not going to be good for opposition teams. A fresh start and coming off a grand final appearance, Farnworth will keen to show he’s worth his big money, three-year deal with the Redcliffe club. He’s already rated one of the best centres in the game and by the close of the season he could be the best.

Stats that matter: Scored 15 tries, had 14 linebreaks, made 115 tackle busts and 32 offloads last season.

After a slow start to the year with the Dolphins following his move from the Broncos, which included an early-season shoulder injury, Farnworth has been hard to handle in recent weeks. He scored a double in last Sunday’s golden-point win against the Warriors and Bennett said the England Test star was warming up.

“He had to settle in,” he said. “He had a few moments and few shocking games that weren’t to his standard, but his last six weeks or so he’s been getting better every week. “He was very good again on the weekend and we expect the same from him. “That (Farnworth-Crichton battle) looks pretty good. It will be a bit of a contest. “They’re both pretty proud men playing good football. “They’ll be doing their best against each other.”

I think Wayne is right. At the start of the season, Herbie had some very uncharacteristic bad games. Been better than ever over the last 2 months.
