Round 7: Dolphins v Penrith Panthers

What an incredible game. Dead and buried at HT and then put themselves into a position where they should have been victorious. They were in total control when Averillo snuck in over the line. Penrith were melting in oppressive conditions and the Dolphins were running all over them. But, like...

Round 7: Dolphins v Penrith Panthers

The Dolphins have a big fan behind their bench blowing mist. Penrith have the same fan, but aren't using it. That shows the mindset of the two clubs.

Round 7: Dolphins v Penrith Panthers

A big storm is rolling in, but it won't be here soon enough to save the Dolphins. Both teams are feeling the pinch, but Penrith are in a different category when it comes to durability and talent.

Sorry, pic won't load. I have no idea why.

Round 7: Dolphins v Penrith Panthers

Who would've thought that Row T would end up being the front row of the Grandstand. A few items blocking our view. But, I'm not going to complain. Great stadium, great atmosphere. It is fucking humid, though.

Round 7: Dolphins v Penrith Panthers

Muggy conditions and likely storms await the Dolphins in what is a very crucial match in the context of this very young season. The Dolphins haven't really fired a shot this year apart from the last 10 mins v Cronulla. The engine room have been extremely disappointing and will have to lift their...

Round 7: Dolphins v Penrith Panthers

Plenty of Dolphin fans on the plane over. Even a couple of Penrith supporters. It is stinking hot, though. I couldn't imagine playing in these conditions. It will be a factor. I remember Parramatta melting in this heat two years ago. The Dolphins promptly scored 8 tries in 25 mins. A little of...

    Recruitment and retention

There is a big defensive workload wearing the #9. They often top the tackle counts. That is not one of KNik's strengths. He is fine where he is. If the forwards ever lay a platform or stop giving away silly P/RI, then you'll see both Kodi and Katoa thrive. Until then, it'll be more of the same.

Going well? 0 T, 0 LB, 0 TA, 0 LBA, 72 Avg RM, 4 OL, 9 P/RI given away. A 91% TR is good, but they need a lot more from their lock forward. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as he adjusts to the NRL. But, the Dolphins are much more effective with Donga or Plath wearing the #13.

He's not allowed to speak to anyone until November. It was only a speculation article. Tedesco will probably retire next year and the Roosters will be looking for a replacement at FB.

    Round 5: Dolphins vs Manly

The Dolphins next 8 weeks look like this: Bye Penrith (H) (Darwin) NZ (A) Melb (H) Cant (H) Sths (A) Canb (A) Bye. No matter which way you choose to look at it, that is a tough run. Some might say that the Dolphins have a high ceiling and could win all of those. But, do they have a high...

    Round 5: Dolphins vs Manly

I've been at work and I haven't watched the game and obviously won't waste my time. If someone told me at the start of the game that the scoreline would be 52-18, I would've been 100% confident that it would be in the Dolphins favour. That's how fucking stupid I am. And to think, we are...

    Round 5: Dolphins vs Manly

The Dolphins are heavy favourites tonight and deserve that status despite their indifferent performances. A mainly dry track at Kayo against a winless (and coachless) team conceding 33 points a game= a chance for the Dolphins to score some serious points. It won't be quite as easy as that, but I...

Katoa, Herbie, Donga, Knik. Plenty of options. Probably not as good as Mayne, but you don't keep someone around just for their goal kicking. I'll miss Isaako because he has had a career revival on the peninsula, but he's not exactly irreplaceable.

Round 4: Dolphins vs Brisbane Broncos

The Dolphins had enough chances to win this game comfortably. They had 53% possession, 58% territory and 2100+ running metres. You usually don't lose when putting up these sort of numbers. Unfortunately, execution and a high error count severely let them down. Give the Broncos credit. They...

Round 4: Dolphins vs Brisbane Broncos

Another chapter tonight concerning the Battle of Brisbane. It has been a one sided matchup thus far (5-1 Broncos), but that will change in the coming years. The Broncos finally woke up during the second half v Melbourne, but they are still a side with some deficiencies and not helped by the...

Round 4: Dolphins vs Brisbane Broncos

14-0 at HT and it could easily have been 30, such was the domination. Second half, they held onto the ball and were boosted by a couple of penalties and six agains and got on a roll. Melbourne threw everything at them, but were unable to score. The Broncos don't worry me. If the Dolphins are on...
