Bateman joins NQ. I wonder why we weren't interested in him? The form of Lemuelu from last year doesn't fill one with confidence. Aitken was the best backrower last year before he too was injured. Anyway, I trust Wolff knows what he is doing. Maybe he think Keeley is a better option than Bateman and he probably has a point.

With Tigers paying a large part of whatever he is making. And Cowboys certainly don't have the cap latitude we have. But anyway, I'm sure Wolff knows what he is doing.
Wests Tigers cooked their Top 30 and Supplementary List this meant Sione Fainu can only be on train & trial until they moved on Bateman.

Bulldogs until last week had 31 in the Top 30 this is why Kautoga was moved onto Eels. They have over inflated their Supplementary List so not much room to move if they want to use players outside the Top 30 due to the $3,000 top up.

Just on Dolphins a breakdown of last season. In total Dolphins used 28 players - 25 top 30, 1 development and 2 train & trial. Donoghue was on a development deal, Fuller had a year long train & trial deal and Hubner probably in total would have been 8-10 months long the deal maybe year long not sure exactly. Five players in the Top 30 didn't play a game they still got their contract Gilbert, Lee, Jennings, Te Whare and Graham. (Teague played one game as the 18th player). The development players not used still got their full contract Simbiken, Waqa, Jackson and Walsh.

Is this the last spot in the top 30? Anyway, Redcliffe will be happy with this but I don't see him playing NRL.

DOLPHINS SET TO LAND FORMER BRONCOS CENTRE

The Dolphins are set to bring home former Eels and Broncos centre Tom Opacic to boost their outside backs stocks. The Mole reported Opacic is set to join the Dolphins, after starting his career at Redcliffe before earning his NRL debut at the Broncos.

The 30-year-old was born and raised in Redcliffe, but made his NRL debut for the Broncos in 2016, Opacic has scored 28 tries in 83 NRL games, including 19 for the Broncos, 24 for the Cowboys and most recently 40 matches for the Eels in 2021 and 2022.

He was a member of the Eels’ 2022 Grand Final squad that lost to the Panthers, despite not playing in the decider, before switching to the Super League. At Hull KR, Opacic scored 14 tries in 48 games across two seasons, but has decided to return home to hopefully finish his career in the NRL with his junior club.

Opacic’s strong defence and versatility in covering centre and wing makes him an astute buy for the Dolphins as Kristian Woolf looks to add depth for a tilt at a maiden finals appearance in 2025.

Neither do I, however, I do see it as being experienced cover. Rather then the inexperienced cover (Te Whare) of last year, that we didn't trust.
