He's not fast or elusive enough to play in the backrow. And it's not like playing in the backrow is a picnic. I think he'd be more likely to pick up an injury playing in the backrow.
I agree with you too. I'm just putting it in a way that others may see the points as to why he probably should play 13.
With his history, he is likely to get injured again this year. And its not as if he is doing the same injury over and over. He is doing new things. That's a different type of worry for mine. He probably is a leader at training, and trains too hard. Then come game time, there isn't enough give in his body and he does an injury. I saw it in my sport all the time, in relation to hamstrings and training too hard. He is a small dude, but jacked, a lot of those guys don't have the body frame to support the muscle load they give themselves, and that frame just buckles under the impact and power of the oversized, over powered muscle mass they have given themselves, resulting in injuries all the time.
If history repeats, its too much for a salary cap sport to be paying someone good money to only be effective 25% of the time. The smart move, if he cant get it right, is to let him go with the talent that we have waiting in the wings.
Its almost more likely that Plath, Kurt have overtaken him for the starting spot already, whilst he recoops year after year.
Noone is nailed on in successful teams that want to win comps in any sport. Competition for places is key. mr.c is suggesting that he is nailed because he is captain or for some other reason. If we are a serious club with a player on good money who plays 4 games in 3 years (i'm exaggerating). Then the question isnt where do we play him, the question is which other team will he be playing for when his contract is up. Let me tell you, he needs to play every game this year, and show he is better than Plath and Kurt, who have both won club wards in recent years.
