What's new

2026 Squad

First time he played second row was round 17 of his rookie year in 2020. Only play 2nd row 4 times that year.

Played Lock at youth level. Even winning lock of the year.

Thats just limited knowledge.

That's okay. Apparently playing as an edge backrower in the NRL is a tea party.

If he played 45 games at thr cowboys.

What that tells me is he was injured too much. Then you look at his start here. Injured.

I would question whether due to this he is more suited to edge rather then middle.

So i would support your calls for an edge backrower if it keeps him less injured.

Problem for him is we have a glut less injury prone backrowers.

He has ball playing skills. So 13 is great. Issue for him is Plath and Kurt have come on quicker then expected.

My summation is. Come contract renewal time. Whilst I really like him, and his attitude and ability. Unless he can play every game this year without being injured, I dont see him being extended, and if he does, it wont be on big money, which may see him leave.

His issue isnt anything other then staying on the park

He's not fast or elusive enough to play in the backrow. And it's not like playing in the backrow is a picnic. I think he'd be more likely to pick up an injury playing in the backrow.

and you wamt him to be a prop

The difference between locks and props isn't much these days. They swap a lot. But with his game, I'd say is much less likely to be injured as a prop than a backrower and much better suited to it. Remember Woolf tried to turn Plath into a backrower early last year. An unmitigated disaster.

well if he doesn't adapt there could be a issue getting inside for him especailly if using Knowles as lock , as going be intresting , with kurt going to hooker and knowles used as lock i don't see kurt getting the locking spot if thats the case when jmk comes back

thats the big thing for woolf if your not stepping up theres plenty to choose from

Also agree with this. More bash and barge, less flighty and so on. He's already a reasonably big player. Just have a feeling it will work better prop than backrow.

lol not sure how you guys think he play prop hes tiny compared to guys we have at prop

I agree with you too. I'm just putting it in a way that others may see the points as to why he probably should play 13.

With his history, he is likely to get injured again this year. And its not as if he is doing the same injury over and over. He is doing new things. That's a different type of worry for mine. He probably is a leader at training, and trains too hard. Then come game time, there isn't enough give in his body and he does an injury. I saw it in my sport all the time, in relation to hamstrings and training too hard. He is a small dude, but jacked, a lot of those guys don't have the body frame to support the muscle load they give themselves, and that frame just buckles under the impact and power of the oversized, over powered muscle mass they have given themselves, resulting in injuries all the time.

If history repeats, its too much for a salary cap sport to be paying someone good money to only be effective 25% of the time. The smart move, if he cant get it right, is to let him go with the talent that we have waiting in the wings.

Its almost more likely that Plath, Kurt have overtaken him for the starting spot already, whilst he recoops year after year.

Noone is nailed on in successful teams that want to win comps in any sport. Competition for places is key. mr.c is suggesting that he is nailed because he is captain or for some other reason. If we are a serious club with a player on good money who plays 4 games in 3 years (i'm exaggerating). Then the question isnt where do we play him, the question is which other team will he be playing for when his contract is up. Let me tell you, he needs to play every game this year, and show he is better than Plath and Kurt, who have both won club wards in recent years.
