Now that's (thrashing of the Bulldogs) is over with and Dolphin finally have a bye, after a few teams have already had 2 we can turn our attention to this game.

Official QLD team:
  1. Kalyn Ponga
  2. Xavier Coates
  3. Robert Toia
  4. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow
  5. Valentine Holmes
  6. Cameron Munster
  7. Daly Cherry-Evans (c)
  8. Moeaki Fotuaika
  9. Harry Grant
  10. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui
  11. Reuben Cotter
  12. Jeremiah Nanai
  13. Patrick Carrigan
  14. Tom Dearden
  15. Lindsay Collins
  16. Beau Fermor
  17. Trent Loiero

Not the way I would've gone. Cotter in the backrow? Good player but strictly a middle forward.

DCE..... that's a hard one. Problem is who is there to replace him? For next year and the year after that as well. It's a massive problem for QLD. The best QLD based halfback by far goes by the name of Katoa and is from NSW.

You forgot that Norths 4pm, Capras 5pm and Redcliffe 5pm are all on tomorrow :)

I think it's because he'll go to middle when Fermor comes on that's the way I see it.

Queensland have 4 huge advantages going into game 1 and I've tipped them.
1. Ashley Klein
2. Suncorp Stadium
3. Nathan Cleary is a club footballer
4. Billy Slater / Laurie Daley

The best halfback for Queensland after DCE is currently injured in Sam Walker and after that probably Brayden Trindall and Jamal Fogarty.

It was funny the idiot journos asked Slater about the form of the QLD based NRL teams being a concern and I went through the Dolphins 1-7 with a work colleague and only Hammer is QLD eligible.

If Laurie Daley had half a brain and he doesn't when it comes to coaching or analytics Katoa would be making the drive to the Blue Mountains right now to be a part of the training camp instead he picked Adam Doueihi hahahahaha. Daley was amazing player for Canberra, NSW & Australia probably the best captain NSW has ever had but that's where it ends.

TBH I tried but I'm really too busy to follow QLD Cup at present.

Not Hammers fault those inside him wouldn't pass him the ball. But he has some serious competition. Wouldn't surprise me if Walsh comes back shifting Ponga to centre. Or Holmes to centre, Talangi onto the wing.

DCE's saving grace is that there is no one else. Dearden is a 5/8. It's a massive problem in the short term at least. This year probably going to have to stick with DCE and next year, god knows. I guess it will be a 5/8, Dearden or Walker forced to play out of position. Also Munster isn't a shadow of the player he was 2 years ago. QLD is in some serious trouble for the next couple of years IMO.

Hammer won't get dropped if anything Hammer might be fullback.

Something with Queensland has to change they've lost 4 of their last 5 origin games only win when they were against 12 players for 73mins.

Hammer is an interesting case he's ripped Origin when Crichton hasn't been right centre but been so contained when Crichton been right centre.

I think he'll get dropped. Crighton ran over the top of him a couple of times. And if Walsh is fit the need to score points will see him be recalled and they won't drop Ponga so........

We are in an Origin transition stage. NSW have been just about to dominate for as long as Origin has been played. This time will be no difference. Though I can't see us coming back to win this year.

I don't think that will weaken them at all. As a matter of fact, I think it'll make them better.
NSW for many years had no depth in the halves whereas Queensland had Lockyer at 5/8 and had halfback options like Thurston, Cronk and Prince and probably more. Pearce got so many games due to little options and of course his surname but if Prince was NSW during that time he goes close to a 20 game career.

Now all the sudden NSW have Luai, Burton, Galvin and Strange as 5/8 options and halfbacks in Cleary, Moses, Metcalf and Katoa.

Luai and Cleary is a much better combo than Cleary and Moses even though individually, Moses is much better than Luai and almost as good as Cleary.

Even though Metcalf has had a breakout year, I think it's:
  1. Cleary
  2. Moses
  3. Katoa
  4. Metcalf
Galvin in nowhere near an Origin 5/8.

NSW by 20
MoM - Haas
FTS - Lomax

QLD just don't have a halfback. Forwards also lacking depth.
