Well-known NRL player charged with raping woman in Brisbane

A well-known NRL player accused of raping a woman in Brisbane has had his matter mentioned in court for the first time. The footballer did not appear before Brisbane Arrests Court on Wednesday when his matter was brought before magistrate Julian Noud. In court documents, police allege the man raped a woman at a venue in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane in December last year.

Because of Queensland laws prohibiting the identification of people charged with sexual assault or rape offences at this stage of court proceedings, NCA NewsWire is not able to name the man. On Wednesday morning, Mr Noud adjourned the man’s matter to March 6 following a brief appearance by the player’s lawyer. The man remains on bail.

I wonder if it's a Dolphins, Broncos or Titans player. The fact he was charged today in Brisbane means it must be from one of those teams. Maybe we'll find out when he doesn't run out for a trial game this weekend.

I don't know who it is but there is one high profile Broncos player not named in either trial and not listed as injured.

:ROFLMAO: ....LOLz, it's not Adam Reynolds.

The Broncos have recently sacked a player from their 30 man squad of last year.

I had no idea who it was. Was only pointing out that he was out of both games. Now I know who it was.

Actually, I don't know who it was but I know they recently sacked a player for off-field issues.

Anyone got an opinion on this Jarryd Hayne thing?
  • If the law was perfect, he is perfectly guilty.
  • I don't know how women deal with this kind of thing but as an outsider looking in, I think if she was really against what was happening, shouldn't her mother in the next room have heard? Or the taxi driver waiting outside? It's not as though he assaulted her in the middle of the night in a back alley.
  • He deserves punishment for being so arrogant or such a sociopath as to tell the taxi to wait outside.
  • His RL/NRL awards should not be rescinded.
That's how I feel about it anyway.

He was found guilty twice. For better or worse, there is no other way to look at it.

But personally I can't understand why she deleted some texts, kept others and told the cops she didn't delete any.

He settled out of court with a woman in the US for something similar.
